Easter holiday weekend,and great expectation filled my heart,we can maintain our lead at the top of the table with a win against Rotherham,after a good 2-2 draw away to Fleetwood during the week. Now was the time to show the rest of League to what we still have,ground was filling up nicely,Rainham end was rocking.like it has all season,Martin Allen came out to a rapturous applause from the Gillingham faithful,now time for the players to get it on,and show The Rotherham manager,what we have that his side has not got. We lined up with Nelson Fish,Martin,Legge,Barrett. Whelpdale,allen,Gregory,Robinson. Burton,Kedwell. Game kicks of and we totally dominated with good chances had by Kedwell,Barrett,before a nice flick on by Kedwell and Burton is there to finish and Priestfield Staduim erupts,just what we needed. We totally dominated the half with Rotherham hardly having a sniff,this was well pleasing. 2nd half started with Rotherham making 2 changes, knowing they need to do something to get back into the game,but it carried on from the first half we press and press hit the bar and have a couple good shots saved,corner after corner looking for that 2nd goal,but it never came. Rotherham changed The system and went with 3 strikers,which put us under pressure,but without really worrying our back line at all apart from one top class save from nelson. Final whistle came and it was another home win and 3 points on the board,exactly what is needed,especially when teams around us are dropping points. Now for the display,this was a joy to behold,you could of gave mom to 4-5 players,Burton got,mostly because of the goal he scored,but could of gone to Barrett,Kedwell,Allen or the impressive Whelpdale. Now i have to say,one player that has improved in the last couple of games is Gregory,he got a lot of stick from the fans especially after the Wycombe game,but he is showing his true potential week after week. Next we are home to torquay,let us bring the house down and get another 3 points,hopefully after a draw or a burton win on friday against Port Vale.
