I asked this in the match thread yesterday, but how has Monreal become first choice all of a sudden? ,and it's not like he is playing well or anything.
So lets summarise some of the answers: Gibbs is a better defender Monreal is a better defender Gibbs is better going forward Monreal is better attacking. For me Gibbs edges it. He has been better over longer periods than Monreal, although on their day either could get it.
gibbs is also just coming back from injury, and wenger doesn't like breaking up the defensive unit. but i can definitely see gibbs starting vs united.
