I will always support Bristol City Football Club......but I will also say what I feel is right for the club.....I won't be having this...support whoevers in charge or say a crap player is good if he isn't.
I won't say we are playing good if we're not.
I was right about Millen from the start and could NOT bring myself to support him in charge........it's my opinion, I pay my season ticket money....it's my choice.

I was accused of being one of the sheep in the GJ days.....as you can see, I am far from it.

For the record, My first choice of manager whom I wanted to replace Millen before he was sacked was Roberto Di Matteo, not a bad shout by the look of it!!
When that wasn't possible Zola was my second choice (just one of those things that both are Italian).

I thought we were, after all these years looking to progress, with SL looking at the new stadium etc......by the look of it, "nothing's changed".

As for DM, I am fully aware of the mess he had to work with once Millen had left....and yes he kept us in the championship, by the skin of our teeth.....but some of his decisions, formations & subs I was not over convinced.

We have a new season and we should get to know his style & ways within a few months....I hope for the club that my gut feelings are wrong and will hold my hand up with pleasure.

You said you would hold your hands up if Del kept us up. "complete the job he was brought to do" (I paraphrase!) but your still bellyaching about how he wont be good enough.

I could understand all this if we were bottom of the league and looking at relegation but we haven't even started the season yet..

The jury is out on Zola we will see what happens but I am quite happy we are not overspending as a club on managers, and showboat players.

I did hold my hands up Banksy regarding Del keeping us up, maybe you didn't see it..and if you read what I wrote earlier I said he did well with the shambles that Millen left behind.

I'm with you that we havn't started the season yet...but I can't help gut feelings!! Over to you Del.!!

I agree, what a pointless thread, get it into your head OneFor, we have DM as our manager, if you don't want to support the manager (which you haven't since he's been here) go and support someone else, if you did, maybe we would all be happy.
You say your not knocking DM, son , you have been knocking him since he's been here.
    Get a life.

I am struggling to understand your standpoint here onefor, you agree he did well with the rubbish and mess left by Millen so what makes you think he wont do even better with a fresh start, new players and his own staff with a pre season.

We did have a dip after xmas but confidence is such a massive thing for a team at the bottom, it was inevitable we would dip in the circumstances at some point. I think Del performed a mini miracle keeping us up and you only have to look at Greg Cunninghams comments to see Del has made his mark nationally and he has been noticed far and wide.

All the problems and issues we have discussed and debated on here and other forums are being addressed, it will take a while to take effect.

I only hope Del is here long enough to see it all through because I'm fairly certain we have been lucky enough to secure a good un..

I can't be bothered to go over and over my point, so we will leave it there, best alround.

I backed Millen when he kept us up and said he should be given a chance to form a new side and be given a pre season. I also traded with Wiz about his lack of support for Millen at the time.

    I was very, very wrong..

    Wiz was very, very right..

    I can live with it..

BTW -- I couldn't wait to see the back of GJ at the end. and as for his style of 'football' well...

I will respond to you...just this time AD!!
You agree with others it's a pointless thread....what and all the threads on this forum are constructive are they??
I made the thread because a manager I wanted at the club had just been appointed by Watford...it was something current in the news.
Yes, I am fully aware that DM is our manager, I will support him.....But if I didn't want to support him why should I go and support someone else?????? don't understand your point. What, just to make you happy......why would I wanna do that!!
As to knocking him.....I don't see that either, he wasn't my choice, but he kept us up, of which I'm greatful......but for me, this season will be the test, if he's any good or not. We shall see.

if you go back to old threads...I have always praised him when we played well or when I felt he made the right decisions..........but it won't stop me from knocking him when i feel it he's made a blunder..

Do you have a problem with that AD??

"but for me, this season will be the test"

But you said when he was appointed "Mcinnes is not my choice but him keeping us up this season will be the test, I expect him to do the job he has been brought here to do" again I paraphrase, but you seem to keep moving the goalposts.

You might as well admit you will never be happy with him and I will expect you to be out when we have inevitable dips through the season that all teams do.

For me he has proved his potential and that has been noted nationally. Zola was never an option and never applied for the job so why pine for a manager that was never an option anyway?

With regards your opinion I welcome everybody's different views personally it wouldn't be much of a forum without that..

    Banksy...the goalposts always change...that's life ain't it?
What are you saying.....you want the same this season as last??? I wouldn't think so.

Yes last year was survival, this season has to be much better surely.
Entertainment, mid table should be a minimum, if not, season tickets will fall again, there will be no money and fans will get cheesed off.

DM has been in charge since October last year. This season we should see what he's all about, players, systems, formations and tactics.
When I see what is developing I will express my opinion.......by the way, i have no problem with ups and downs or a dip in form.....it's how he deals with it for me is the test.

    Is that fair?

One4's issue seems to stem from the fact that he thinks Scottish football is a joke league full of Sunday pub footballers but the point is that;-

a). we are not playing football in Scotland
b). the ptoestations that we will become full of the afore mentioned pub footballers has been well and truely laid to rest by the manager
c). in fact, in direct contrast to b). our first 2 recruits are an FA and European Cup winner and a young and highly rated, ambitious young footballer from the top club in the country,

One4, I am with you regarding the standard of football under Millen (and GJ at the end), neither had a clue and I said it many times but was disliked for saying so however it became clear at the end. Last year was all about SURVIVAL football and nothing else however your stated fears about the lack of ambition and "cheap options" are already being laid to rest.

May I respectfully suggest that you lay your distain for Scottish football to one side and maybe start thinking along the lines that we have the next Paul Lambert, at the helm, something I firmly believe, there is something about the Scots as managers that makes them successful

I wouldn't go as far as saying it's Sunday Pub standard but it is in a very bad state, so those saying what a fantastic job he did at St johnstone meant nothing to me.
Paul Lambert has been an exception for what he did for Norwich and like you I hope to god Del has the same qualities......

    We will see!
