I think these two, playing in the same team, have the potential to become Sunderlands greatest ever players and could be remembered up their with Quinn and Phillips.

Both have the ability of Sess or Steed but with an added effectiveness that those two never found.

Please discuss, am I getting carried away?

The run Ricky made against City for the penalty was probably the best bit of solo skill I've seen for Sunderland for years.

    Giack is just class.

"Ever" was a bit over-ambitious like - there's a small matter of Buchan, Carter, and Shackleton to be considered! But overall, I agree that Ricky and Giac are gifted players and I look forward to seeing more of what they can do. The promise is definitely there.

Technique players, it's what I was on about in my more Giacc less Buckly thread. Gus want's to play a passing philosophy so we need more players like Giacc and Ricky. I'd have Ki back in a heart beat. Tell me those three playing together wouldn't create chances.

They will not have the consistency of Sess or Malbranque though. Looking at Yeovil they play better than us, get the ball down left or right quicker and get the ball in.

<laugh>Sess was one of the most inconsistent players I've ever seen at Sunderland in my entire life. What planet do you live on?

I mentioned those two as they were the most talented yet least effective and most inconsistent players I've seen playing for us. Are you brain damaged?

Getting slightly carried away for me! I've seen two good displays from Rick so far (City both times I think) but thought he was awful v hull. Apparently was ill today.

Giacch has undoubted class and I'm desperate for us to get the best out of him somehow. Excellent on the counter, struggles against a deeper defence I feel

A lot seem to have done exactly that mate.

Plenty talk of Quinn & Phillips but Gates & Gabbs were a tremendous combo. Playing the ball to where you know the player is going to be. Takes years to get that kind of understanding.

Looked good vs City the new kid.

Consistency is the key though, as others have mentioned.

That Bumcrab kid was on here bare slating Alvarez when he joined, wonder how he rated his performance vs City.

Matey said she'll see what she can do for ya disco I'll DM u tomorrow when I'm at my desk and not on this **** phone. <ok>

Alvarez feet & touch is ****ing class, I think him and PVA might combine well if we play Alvarez centrally and he looks for PVA's runs.

Was beaut to see PVA back, and looking sharp as ****, he gives us so much, he could become really top draw.

Leeds, by the way, were ****ing awful, what a **** side. We were pony second half but you got the impression we knew we could get away with it.

Giachh was his usual class self today, Ricky a bit subdued but as stated earlier he wasn't well. Hopefully these two will get a run in the team together now and along with PVA and Rev we have some very good players who can create chances for our front men.

Couldn't understand why we didn't have Jozy on the bench today. What about if we had to chase the game?

Alvarez was poor today I thought. I can see that there is a skilful player in there, but not sure that he is suited to the English game. There were a few times today that he lost the ball and did nothing to get it back. Poyet didn't seem to happy about one instance, and I wasn't too surprised to see him taken off. I know he needs game time in order to improve, so I'm expecting to see more effort, energy and impact in jan and February

I like Giac's work rate and the passion that he shows. Again, with game time he should be up to speed soon

No rush matey, cheers for having a word! I'm going to try and meet some people in Melbourne/Sydney this month but I'm not overly optimistic about it!
