I felt like writing to the FA about the exclusion of Ryan but heard from Henry Winter that Woy remembers the Ramsey incident and thus having played him 20 minutes that is enough for him. Chambers was awful against San Marino and only a little better against Estonia. How Wenger spent £18 million is beyond me.

On the subject of Ryan, I do not think he does himself any favours at defending corners, manhandling the opposition and then losing them. Concentrate on your man but also look at the ball! The peformamce at QPR where he was more interested in Caulkner than the ball was well below par.

Cahill and Shawx should be the central defensive partnership. It could function for the next 5 of 6 years and would provide stability for the next couple of big competitions.

I can't believe the ShawX/Ramsey incident would be Hodgson's reason for excluding Ryan from the England squad. Some might argue on the basis of form, ability or whatever but that incident should have no bearing whatsoever on whether he should be selected or not. If it really is the reason as far as Hodgson is concerned then he doesn't deserve to be England manager, disgraceful.

I know I will sound paranoid but I do think it's to do with that incident. I think Arsen and Wilshire and the other Arsenal contingent that play for England are very influential in the England set up. I also think there is a snobbery still about Stoke.

That said, I agree that Shawcross gets a bit 'handsy' when defending set pieces and that might count against him. However, I would buy that only if Roy had attended the Brit to see it for himself. Is there any other premier league club he has not visited?

I agree that Ryan has a habbit of man handling player's at corners etc. But so is every other C/half.
Cahill was doing it during the last England game.

're the Arsenal player's having a say over Ryan's inclusion or not. I don't by that. I think Sky is just a first class idiot.

You're probably right Potts. I still think he needs to come to Stoke though.

Perhaps we will have to wait and see what happens in January , if as the BBC reported , that United are interested in taking Ryan back , and the transfer goes through , and he then gets selected , then we have the proof that Hodgson is a Stoke hater.

I hope Ryan stays with Stoke and gets more caps , that is what I want to see. I don't think Hodgson will be England manager much longer.

He should not be England manager now !!

To reiterate my point, Shawcross came on against Sweden with not long to go, he was up against Zlatan Ibro, who got goalside of him and scored. Coming on against a centre forward of Zlatan's class, is a tough call for ANY centre half, never mind a debutant!!

    Nothing to be ashamed of.

Zlatan has been doing that for ages, and continuing to do so.

To quote Shakespeare, from Macbeth Act 2, Scene 4..."piss off woy"

You just made me spit my tea out laughing Oldnicky!

Ibrahimovic was indeed in his pomp when Shawcross was given the unenviable task of marking him.

    Roy out :-D

    P.S. predictive txt Zoz sorry
It should have read Woy is an idiot not Sky. Will Ryan go to Utd? I'm not sure he will personally.
If he decides to leave ask for a minimum of 30 million + add ons if Woy selects him.

I don't think Roy will be leaving any time soon myself. They've won 3 from 3 in thi qualifying campaign.

I think it's harder to not qualify for this tournament isn't it?

I would understand if Ryan left for a bigger club but it galls me that good players need to leave us to get a chance for England. Bunch of arse.

The BBC said that United were looking at Shawx as an alternative to Hummels meaning a £12 million move in January (yep, like that is gonna happen).

If this did happen, I can guarentee that Woy would call him up... He is fickle like that
