No attempt here to invite character assasination, just interested in genuine posters opinions of Hull's player of the season last year.

Is he a "must have" at the club for his passion and committment, or is he too rash and accident prone to have at the heart of defence?

I'll start it off with a positive opinion. He may not be perfect (and he isn't by a long shot), but I would stick with him as an option unless Malky can find another Jolly Rog at Wycombe.

Our two current holders of the CB positions, Huds and Turner, are there on merit and it would take big money to bring in anyone better. If Gezza will accept that understudy role, he should be retained.

Of course, top flight football next season would put a different complexion on it.

Darcey has shown at international level he could do a job at CB. Gezza can look top class and then very rash, often within 2 minutes of each other.
I think him and Turner are a bit too similar and Hudson is a much better partner for Turner.

I take it Keirnan is still knocking about somewhere, he did a reasonable job last year. If someone was willing to pay decent money for AG I reckon we could manage and invest the funds elsewhere.

Good squad back up methinks, certainly no more and would not step up to the top flight. Enigma.

Can't be faulted for effort, commitment and his whole hearted approach. However he can be rash and I hate it when he has the ball at his feet and he has time to think (Darcy has the same problem). Both of them look so much better when McPhail is playing as he is always coming close to take the short ball and remove pressure from them.

By way of comparison look at the way Turner thumps his cross field passes, usually finding his man and Gezza............

Gezza is still valuable to us at this level as back up cb. I think he is better than Keinan who is very left footed (couldn't play with Turner) and slightly short to be a top class cb. Gezza is taller and competes better in the air. They are both useful to have as cover at Championship level but unlikely to make the grade any higher.

BFB sums it up perfectly, he doesnt merit a starting position but he's a good understudy, he always gets yellows and can be prone to a lack of concentration but hull fans rated him highly last season so he's a good player to have in the squad <ok>

I like Gezza. He is a real fighter and will give his all for the cause.Unfortunately his passion overrides team ethic. How many times have you seen Marshall bellow a command to him only for him to ignore it.No wonder they nearly came to blows that once.I think the fact he knows he's viewed as a back up makes him try to impress too much when he gets the opportunity.A real battler but prone to clumsy bookings.Don't write our Anthony off at 25 though,I think he's a work in progress.

If Super Kev and Hudson are fit Gerrard shouldn't make the bench, I'd have Darcy there instead. End of.

Blake is certainly a versatile bench option if Kev is OK. He covers more eventualities than Gerrard, but is he really 6 feet tall and weigh only 10st 10lbs?.........<whistle>
