I wonder if anyone else felt that there was an extraqordinary ressemblance between the Czech midfielder Jiracek and old City faithful Gerry Gow. not just the straggly long hair and stocky physique, but the tackling, boundless energy and total commitment all over the pitch. The guy played a blinder and hardly got a mention by the pundits. I appreciate that Ronaldo is a class act and difficult not to capture notice, but for my money Jiracek was man of the match 'a la Gerry Gow.' He sure as Hell did not deserve to be on the losing side.

Totally agree with you sapphire! I couldn't take my eyes off him because he was allover the pitch and seemed to be involved in almost every play. A very high work rate and his commitment was awesome.

Imagine what a player of that calibre could bring to Bristol City and he would clearly fit the bill of midfield general in all aspects. We can only dream that Derek is able to come up with that kind of player but you never know what contacts he has.

Petr Jiracek has been at Bundesliga team Vfl Wolfsburg since December 2011 so it would probably mean a big fee to get him. But totally agree, what a worker who gave more than 100%!

Was reading about the Gow match. Shaun Goater is going to play for both sides! Apparently he will play the first half for us and the second half for them.

What are the odds that Goater will play on the winning side. I'm sure if you could bet the game would end in a draw.

Gerard Gow - a real legend

Hopefully we'll get in excess of 15,000 for the game. I shall be having a few Stellas before and after the game in his honour.
