When we all started singing we are Southampton were premier league. Made the hairs in the back of my neck stand up when I realised the enormity of what we've achieved. I'm so so proud to call myself a saints fan and to know I stood by this club through thick and thin and will always do so. Today was for everyone who's supported this club all of us on here deserve it! what an incredible club!
It was a great occasion and one to be savoured i was there with my two lads and i inflicted saints on them when they were small when they could have been Chelsea or Utd and we like all of you have walked the walk with the club down the hill and then up again and here we are. I am always moved when i see people genuinely happy and together and i was thrilled and moved by Nigels reaction which was emotional. My two lads can now walk heads high and chests puffed out
Chaplows Shiny Head, I hope you kept telling them to soak it up and remember as much as possible. As the third goal went in I whispered to my son "remember this. Have a look around you and take theseemories all in"
.., great post mate...I've resisted posting this morning because I couldn't straighten my emotions out...can I just add my name to your post? PS FLT,.. apart from CBK (who I admire because he adds a touch of anachy to this forum) you and Fran are wonderful dignified saintly posters, I know your son will do you proud. I took grandson and grandaughter yesterday, I converted them from Man U fans about 3 months ago, a very proud day yesterday.. I sat alone in the stands afterwards, thought about family affairs...onwards and upwards
Back in 78 spurs needed a draw with Southampton to get promoted with you...I I was listening on the radio and was dancing round my front room as a 10 yr old kid when we got it... always had a soft spot for you since...good to see you back
Cortese doesn't bring his children to the matches apart from the big ones. I remember thinking after our JPT victory and promotion last year, that his son jumping around in a Saints kit was probably under the impression that all this excitement happened all the time to Saints fans. Poor kid, I thought. Well, he's just had it confirmed by yesterdays celebrations, so has a lifetime of joy and anguish ahead of him.
