General Election 2019

Ah, the old empire attitude is still alive and well. I wonder if that is true about them having little choice but to come. It seems looking at the numbers they have already left to go elsewhere. Maybe they have headed home. If that is the case it will not be the money raising tax that is hoped for.

 

Many of the EU countries cannot create any jobs, I'm not sure workers want to return to being on the scrapheap. After Brexit these EU nationals will need to compete with applicants from around the world. Only the best will be selected.

 

I have no interest in his culpability in the many faults people see in him, I'm just pleased he is seen as a loser that will be put out to grass just before xmas.

So apparently the whole World is tripping over itself trying to get to the UK - so that only the best will be selected. Below is a list of the ten highest paid countries for nurses Worldwide - sorry but the UK doesn't figure.

Most countries have problems filling nursing vacancies, and if one is prepared to go abroad they will go to where they will be best paid and have the best working conditions. With the UK not fitting either of these conditions, to tell a nurse that she will have to pay to get a job is rather fanciful. The only ones prepared to go to the UK will not be the best, but the remainder who haven't been able enough to have a job elsewhere.

 

Unfortunately if there is one thing which nearly all Brexiteers have in common it is an inflated idea of Britain's place in the World Frenchie. They think that the World wants to come to Britain - English speaking nurses with a choice will go to the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland or Canada, all of which have better pay and conditions for nurses and Britain will be placing itself on a level playing field with those countries after Brexit. There is also another point in that getting nursing staff from abroad depends on the sending countries having a surplus - if the surplus is not there and the sending countries suffer shortages as a result of such recruitment then compensation claims can occur. As in when the NHS had to pay compensation to South Africa.

 

It is extraordinary that there is a never ending queue of Labour politicians, now Lord Blunkett, a former Home Secretary, willing to criticise Corbyn and the Labour Party at this crucial election time.

Blunkett said last night " the behaviour of the hard left within the Labour Party- the antisemitism, the thuggery, the irrational views on security and international issues, and the lack of realisation that you have to embrace a big tent of people in order to win- certainly makes me despair"

Blunkett is another very experienced politician that has known Corbyn for decades, he is obviously aware these kinds of accusations from within the Labour Party will not help Labour's chances of success.
Perhaps Corbyn supporters should be asking these many dissenting Labour Party members why comments like "antisemitism and thuggery" are appropriate descriptions of their party.
Blunkett is also predicting the likelihood of a sizeable Tory majority similar to Margeret Thatcher's in 1983.

There is obviously a civil war going on within the Labour Party. It seems at the moment that the hard left have total control but maybe it will take at least another period of opposition to purge the moderates completely. What happens if the LP 'returns to its roots' as described by Cologne, but is continuously shunned by the electorate for being too left wing? Does the LP then reinvent itself back towards the right or become a small minority party. This could leave a space for a new centre left party, interesting times.

British political history suggests no one party rules forever, the electorate get fed up when / if politicians take the public for granted. It really is weird that there is no popular opposition to the present government. Whatever your political views, the Labour Party has messed up big time.

Most opinion polls suggest that the Labour Party has the support of a majority of the population on it's economic policies eg. nationalization of key industries, wealth tax, finance transaction tax etc. If voters are moving away from them it is not because of their place on the political spectrum. They have allowed a witch hunt to develop in the party in reaction to the pumped up charges of anti semitism, and have suffered because of remaining in the centrist position on Brexit, at a time when the rest of Britain has become polarized on the issue.

 

I think total denial of the present LP being in anyway responsible for its ills will keep it in opposition in perpetuity, I don't mind.

 

There is little doubt that this week has seen a new low in UK politics. Tories jumping all over the Labour Party as some of the members are not happy about Corbyn. Tories having an absolute car crash of a week involving Grenfield, rape cases, and viral videos of a PM who has lost the plot. To be honest it makes other countries in the world seem strong and stable by comparison.

 

You must be joking, Italy changes its government almost every year, France has almost half the population voting for a far right party, weekly riots. Spain has potential for a civil war, Germany also has extreme right wing gains in its parliament, etc etc.

The only time the UK looked iffy was the recent wreaking antics of the speaker of the house and the undemocratic remainer MPs.

Those most unhappy with the Corbyn administration are Labour members themselves appalled at the direction Momentum has taken the party.

A One nation Conservative government with a decent majority and clean Brexit will cure most ills.

 

Supposedly the 5th richest economy (blah blah) and yet, here we are, people dying and committing suicide through the shame of food banks, dwp humiliation, no hope... people living in squalor while landlord MPs vote against providing homes fit for habitation; the people paying for "austerity" but I don't see the fat cats tightening their belt. I can't stand the bloke but corbyn is the lesser of any of the evils to choose from, especially the current shower.

 

I am afraid that we have seen just how unfit Johnson is to lead the country, and that is after only one week. The comments from abroad have highlighted his crazy behaviour and statements, and to think that he will have to deal with these countries if he ever gets elected. It doesn't bare thinking about.

 

I can understand the fear in the EU from an unshackled dynamic business friendly UK. No wonder the EU tried to use the discarded backstop to hold the UK back.

 

Now you are back from the pub SH, would you like to clear up for Johnson why he should proclaim that staying in the single market and customs is the best possible thing to do, yet proposes to withdraw from it?

 

Following Labour's horrendous week support is collapsing across the country as Jeremy Corbyn lurches from one crisis to the next. A new poll has shown the Tories pulling ahead in almost every region in the country, including many leave-voting Labour heartlands. An informal deal between the Tories and the Brexit Party will only see the Tories lead increase further.
