Ah you know what? We looked like we could score 3 or 4 in the first half alone. It ended 1-0 partly due to some rushed final touches from us and partly due to poor refereeing. Ghana spent the entire match defending, used incredible time-wasting, injury-faking tactics which with any decent refereeing would have resulted in about 6' of added time. Referee gave us two. There was a clear red card to Ghana as well for an off-the-ball kick to one of our players (Amr Zaki) with clear intent to injure that just got a yellow. He'd been our most dangerous thus far & later in the 2nd half demanded a substitution around 65', came off slightly limping. Might have been due to that earlier incident. Anyway, we did ourselves in at Kumasi (first leg). Very unlucky draw against a Ghana team clearly #1 in Africa right now and which I expect will make a big impact in Brazil. Very unlucky to concede THAT many goals away as well (1 OG, 2 off the post, 1 doubtful penalty, 2 from set pieces), but certainly our defensive organization was horrid then. Ironically, yesterday we were world class defensively. Ghana scored from 1 of only 3 chances they could manage. But that's how efficient they are. By the way, most of our players are local-based, we have no local league since June, we won 7 out of 8 WCQ games but not going to Brazil. Mexico's record in CONMEBOL is 2-5-3 (2 games won out of 10 !) and they just need to hop over New Zealand over 2 legs to qualify.
