Whilst i admit i wasn't at the game against Hartlepool (and am therefore happy to be corrected) i was surprised to see that Hartlepool were a little unlucky not to snatch the points. Saints just don't seem to hit top gear very often. When we do we look like champions elect but most games we don't get out of 3rd gear. Of course teams work hard before the game to ensure we don't but Kelvin kept us level last night. So do the players want it badly enough? The performance of some players was a little lerthargic and the spark we need to get auto-promotion just isn't there this season. It looked to me like Pool had the better of the chances. Rochdale will be tougher, can Nigel motivate our stars?
Players are paid too much to care what the score is nipper. If players had the passion of fans the game would be so much better. Your forward looks like he doesn't want to mess his hair up by running about too much.
Our boys are well paid yes, but are also desperate for promotion. Sadly the pool wanted to win it just as much as us. We need to start grinding out results like the carlisle game if we are to achieve promotion.
I think the opposite is the case & players can try too hard. I don't agree players don't have the passion & are paid too much to care about the score. You only have to look at their body language after a loss.
I have to say that i agree with the Saints comments but it is frustrating that we are dropping points.
