...with some people on this forum unbelievably questioning the signing of Gaston Ramirez it got me thinking whether we would've signed him if Chambo had stayed at the club seeing as their respective transfer fees were about the same. The question is simple, who do you think will become the better player.

Have no idea as I haven't seen Ramirez. Having said that, given the choice I might take Alex because he is used to the English game. Didn't feel qualified to vote.

Really needed a 'wait and see' option.

I will be brave as say the foreigner over the Englishman , why ? Because the average English footballer as we have recently seen can not trap a bag of sand against quality opposition , can not pass for toffee either .
Selfish shortermism and no good for the English game in the long run but hey ho .

I saw the arsenal vs. liverpool match and chamberlain had a poor game, although the commentators said that it was one of his worst. I remember in league 1 his crossing was class, despite accidently scoring from a cross, whereas against liverpool he put in nothing decent and his passing was below the standard of his team mates. He'll be out to prove a point in his next game and we'll be able to see how he has changed. I think chambo has all the traits including a fantastic attitude however his success will also rely on a few other factors such as injuries, tactics, education etc.

To answer the question I think chamberlain will become a consistently effective player whereas Ramirez will be the player that changes matches with his freekicks and flair, which I think is more valuable. Although I have only seen youtube videos so who knows.

Ramirez simply because his youtube video is longer. But really, really impossible for us to answer at this point.

Hard to say, but Chamberlain showed no sign of improvement last season for Arsenal. Chamberlain needs game time and he's not getting much of that, I think he'll still turn out better than Walcott though! Ramirez, although he is quite a few years older, has excelled at the top level and Chamberlain's yet to do so. But for us to splash 14 million euros or whatever on a non-English player with not long left of his contract, he must have something in him.

I like the way Ramirez goes past defenders, he makes it look easy like a certain Le God. I believe he was the third most fouled player in Italy so he must piss off alot of defenders over there which is a good sign. Oxo will be played more in the middle, in Brazil I hope the England middle 3 will be Oxo, Wilshire(if he is not injured) and JWP
