There's been a few things occurring in Gasland recently, so I thought I'd pull them all together:

    Judicial Review

So, somewhat unsurprisingly we now have the spectre of a possible Judicial Review hanging over the sale of the Mem to Sainsburys. It's not definite, just a preliminary 'notice of intention' received by the City Council over the decision. The same old suspects, Radice, Hoyt and other assorted Luddites, seem to be behind this spoiling tactic - although they claim not to be acting under the banner of the Bristol Green Party. The Greens are on record as saying that they do not want ANY development in Bristol, bar council houses. Clearly Bristolians' livelihoods mean nothing to them.

Surely people who initiate such proceedings should be made to pay all parties' costs should the JR find in favour of the Council's original position? If not, why not? In these straightened times, is it fair that taxpayer's money should be used for such an undemocratic delaying tactic?

Our Red brethren have already suffered due to the chronic Bristol disease of blocking anything worthwhile and of benefit to the city. Now it's our turn.

My view is that this may not proceed as many locals actually want the supermarket development, rather than the regular disruption that living near a sports stadium entails. However, I'd just like to thank the idiotic Mayor for giving these people an inflated sense of both their own importance and their electoral mandate by inviting them into his 'Rainbow Cabinet' in the first place.

Even if the JR does proceed, hopefully it will do no more than delay the bulldozers moving in for much more than a few months.

    Tom Parkes

Ouch! Fortunately, his knock on the head was nothing more serious and he should be fine to face Newport. I was bloody worried when he was stretchered off just 15 mins in though!

    Gary Kenneth

He should be back for Newport after being out for over 7 months. Will we see a new and improved player under Ward, or is he very much second fiddle to Parkes and McChrystal?

    Ryan Brunt

Could be back for the home game v York on Saturday week. I ruddy well hope so! We're missing our first choice strikers up front and I'm really looking forward to seeing Ryan playing this season. Now we need Harrold back asap.

    Thanks for this Bb.
Apparently there's a behind closed doors friendly tomorrow away v Exeter.
Gill, Kenneth etc expected to be given a run out. Will be interesting if anyone gets any
    news about it.
Also...our attendance on Saturday was the best in L2, and better than 4 in L1.....so not
so bad after all. Oh, and Rene Howe scored the only goal for his new club Burton Albion.

    Except for Plymouth (7,280)!

Yes, I read about the Exeter friendly. Hopefully, both Gill and Kenneth will get game time as a prelude to a full return. We do need their experience, in my opinion.

It's a mystery to me how the likes of Howe and Akinde ever find the back of the net. They certainly didn't know where it was when they played for us!
