i am a big fan of waddock and the style of football he is trying to bring to our club but i think now is the time he needs to prove how good he is by adressing the problems in the side.we either need a left midfielder on loan or move jp or beever out there and put young kadeem on the bench.we are getting to the buisness end of the season and are way short on form and if waddock doesnt do something about it we will be looking at the lottery of the play offs.leon has to stay in the team now and he proved yesterday he is still one of our best defenders and we look a lot better without bennett in the side.
"we are getting to the buisness end" - exactly the wrong time therefore to involve a largely untried youngster, even if he is left footed and one for the future. I think that as the left side goes, we have the following options: Stick with Strevens, or perhaps try Ainsworth as an alternative. Play Pittman in that position - my preferred option right now. Sign a loanee - Ishmel Demontagnac perhaps? Otherwise I agree with you.
i did say js either get a loanee or switch beever or jp out there and at least give harris a seat on the bench, because with 15 mins to go it wouldnt be worth bringing strevs on as he doesnt cause damage as a left winger where as raw pace does.
dont get me wrong js i think that harris should only be used if we are behind and are not looking likely to score but i would prefer as i said a loanee specialist left footed left winger or jp or beever there ,the loan option may not be possible due to the money ,only waddock and steve hayes know that.
I'm still to be convinced about gary waddock. His team selection and substitutes have been dodgy quite a few times this season (I talked about saturday's subs in a different post), and he insists on starting players who bring no obvious quality to the team (Strevens, Foster and Bennett in particular). Also, we're not playing better football, its still long ball, the same as lambert and taylor. However, we are in a fairly strong position, and we should be getting promotion as long as we don't completely capitulate. If he brings in a new left mid on loan until the end of the season, and keeps johnson, rendell and beavon in the team, we should be ok. I'm just not so quick to jump on the waddock bandwagon when he hasn't particularly done anything to prove himself yet.
i know what you mean though square pegs in round holes ,but we havent been helped by the injuries to jp and sandell, but strevs i agree doesnt really bring enough to the team
