Posted it on 606 site as well but for those of you who don't use it anymore: Heard a rumour from a good source today that Gary O'Connor has agreed to join Pompey. O'Connor is a free transfer after being released by Barnsley where things didn't work out. I think he could be a useful signing, he hasn't scored many goals in his career but his size means that he has the ability to cause teams problems and he will surely prove to be more of a threat than Kitson as he might actually win a header!
Any signing is to be considered good news at the moment. I just hope this "take-over" actually produces some hard cash for SC to (a) keep hold of the likes of David Nugent and (b) have some-thing in the coffers to start rebuilding the squad
He does appear to be a wee bit injury prone, but nevertheless, a striker is a striker ! On a free, on (hopefully) relatively low wages, a tall lad - surely worth a punt on a pay as you play contract ?
Yeah I'd take him. Faired better in the prem than Kitson. He gave the villa defence a bit of trouble in their derby 2 seasons ago. Good in the air, strong on the ball, eye for goal. I also noticed that Heider Helguson, is out of contract. He scored 13 in the league this season. PLAY UP POMPEY POMPEY PLAY UP.
I don't really know much about this fellow, but I've wikied him and he seems like a good old fashioned, big lump of a center forward to me.
So instead of hoofing it up to Kitson next season, we'll be hoofing it up to Kitson AND O'Connor. Anyone want a free season ticket?
