As was the case in the last transfer window, Michael Laudrup has pledged to hold talks with every one of his non-regulars about their Swansea futures this month. Laudrup has indicated that if any of his fringe players want to move on, he will do his best to make a transfer happen. Monk came close to leaving Swansea back in September only for a back injury to scupper a possible loan switch to Bristol City. Swansea's long-serving club skipper has since proved his worth to Laudrup, making seven appearances so far this season and at no stage letting his side down. But Monk will now listen to the views of his boss before he contemplates leaving the Liberty. My club "Swansea is my club," the 33-year-old declares. "I have been here for eight and a half years now and I don't want to go anywhere else. "But having said that, I want to play football. "I have never been one of those players who is happy to be out of the side moping around. "I have always earned my money. "I haven't been looking for anything else — my focus is on Swansea — but things do come along and I will have to see what happens when I chat with the manager." Monk looked to be completely out of the picture in the early days of the Laudrup era, but he has filled in for Chico Flores at times this season and, as was the case last season, has proved he can hold his own in the Premier League. He was arguably Swansea's best player in the 2-1 win at Fulham last weekend and, happily, he has not been part of a losing side all season. "Obviously I would like to play more, but I am involved every week whether it's on the bench or playing," Monk added. "I have felt I have done all right when I have played, and I still feel I can do a job and I want to do it for Swansea. "At the moment I am just concentrating on staying professional and making sure I am ready when called upon." Monk hopes to play some part tomorrow when Swansea take on Arsenal in round three of the FA Cup. Laudrup's men begin as underdogs despite embarrassing the Gunners at the Emirates in the Premier League last month. "It will be a totally different game," Monk says, "but the win up there was thoroughly deserved. "We played well for the whole 90 minutes up there, and results like that give us the confidence that we can beat these sides. "We have managed to compete against the top boys in the league this season and we'll take that into the game tomorrow."

the side was never set up right for Trundle to really flourish. Apparently Monk's dad (Mr Monk?!) said he would be interested in coming here if he was made an offer. In the end, we're not too far from Swansea and he should get regular first-team football. Personally he would be one of the top on my list as he ticks the boxes in terms of experienced CB and a potential captain (which we need more than anything else).
