21/12/12 Captain Jack Sparrow posted:- Garry Kenneth has responded to John Ward's appointment as Bristol Rovers boss by insisting the club should still be aiming for a play-off place this season. http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/Garry...ail/story.html I want what he's been smoking To get to the playoffs a team needs roughly an average of one and a half points per game over the season. So somewhere around 69 points. Rovers had 18 points from 22 games. So with 24 games to go, they needed another 51 points. The calculation of the possibilities followed.......... W 17 D 0 L7 W 16 D 3 L5 W 15 D 6 L3 W 14 D 9 L1 In our fantastic run under JW the Gas have taken yet another three points from a top table club; Rovers would now need 24 points from 10 games The calculation of the possibilities follows.......... W 8 D 0 L0 W 7 D 3 L0 So realistically only 2 defeats left in the bank. How important was the game against Northampton in seventh place. The gap is 13 points and should be only seven. And of course Wycombe………. BUT. Carry on smoking Garry's magic potion lads. You never know!!!!!! We could be playing against that other lot on their way down next season. Aaaah!!! the ‘if onlys’ of football.
Jokinjg apart... I can't see us dropping many points as long as key players stay fit. Chesterfield are still aiming for the playoffs, so I reckon we're in great shape for tilt at them.
