Never posted on the Jordan Rhodes debate but it's a constant theme on this forum so lets get involved.. Firstly I find it amusing how media speculation is so quickly dismissed the majority of the time yet certain members on here are certain his 'demands' are 30k etc.. Secondly, if he is available for 5m and 20k a week do you want him? Is he worth the risk? I think 5m would get him and personally I would risk him for that - after seeing him for Scotland too albeit against Australia. The predicament is similar to Dean Ashton all those years ago - we bought him in January and he hit the ground running but by then it was too late we were already out of the running to stay up IMO - another few games and I'm sure we would have avoided relegation that year. Could JR have that kind of effect? Would he score 10-15 goals this season or would he fail? If he is outstanding...we stay up with a great striker or we go down and double our money..if he fails we sell him back to a club like Huddersfield for 2-3m and take a 2m loss on him - is 2m really the end of the world? The problem with waiting to see how he gets on in the Championship is if he does well then his value will be closer to 10m which is deffo out of our budget. Finally, he has the same initials as our outstanding goalkeeper - worth signing for that alone

well they do know! it really is common knowledge!! plenty of people find out how much players earn and tell other people etc etc. but as you say, lets leave it. its boring...
he isn't available for £5m though... honestly, i wish rhodes would just **** off and sign for blackburn. then maybe this nonsense will all stop
Surely the point isn't that's he's worth 7 million or 5 million surely the point is Huddersfield aren't going to sell him this window. Huddersfield won't come out and say that just in case Liverpool come in with a 15 billion pound bid, but they are effectively saying "not this window" and I'm totally fine with that.
i'm fine with that too. as i've mentioned countless times, its the sellers prerogative and they can demand as much as they like. if someone agrees to pay it then more fool them. its hardly a new concept what they are doing! we did it ourselves this summer with holt. what i find baffling is why some people keep saying 'if we can get him for £5m...' fact is, we can't get him for that amount, so why even bring it up? and its nothing like the ashton deal. ashton was expensive for us at the time but to everyone he was reasonably priced and was performing week in, week out in the league above rhodes. this guy is not reasonably priced because they don't want to sell him.
I don't get the comparing it to the Worthy Prem era, it's a complete different situation. We didn't have any striker who could get goals than, we have two (maybe 3) strikers who can possibly hit double figures this time. Goals had not been a problem we are no where near as desperate for a striker as we were than.
I'd like to see him at Carrow Road, if only as a statement of intent. This is subject, of course, to his wages not being crazy. But if he has any confidence in his own ability, he would go to a Prem club like Norwich in the belief that he will show everyone just how good he is and keep moving up the ladder, even if the wages are the same as he's getting at Huddersfield.
