In all honesty, I don't think once you're above 21-22 that you should be considered for the 'young' player of the year award, these days in football, 23 is no longer really 'young', when you think of young players these days it's really 16-21 around that area.
Porbably just about deserved to win the main award, but as Arsenal87 points out, he should not have been in contention for the young player of the year. 23 is too old for that award. Lukaku would have been my choice for that one.
