    Hi guys

Wit SAF gone and the Special One returning I am guessing you are more than a little optimistic about next season, do you believe a very real challenge for top spot is now on the cards for the Blues? I know I do <ok>

I think a lot depends on how Pellegrini settles at City. They will be our main challengers I believe.
Arsenal may spend but Wenger just doesn't have it anymore and Below Average Moyes is just not very good.

I too think Utd will be "also rans" this time round and 3rd place might be a good finish for them. Not sure about City, as you say a lot could depend on the settling in and who comes in.
Not that I am a gambling man but if I was I would put my cash on you guys this time round, JM and Chelsea seemed such a perfect fit last time round and I can;t see why it should be any different this time.

I would say Moyes is unproven at this level. I know you just want to wind up Mancs with your funny little nickname, but are you sure he's not very good? Won't necessarily transfer what he has done at a low spending club to a high spending club, but there has got to be a chance he will?

I have a feeling United's season will hinge on the first 10-15 games. If Moyes gets them playing and they are near the top of the league then they are more than capable of winning the league again. However some early season bad form and doubt creeps in, questions will start being asked (which hasn't been the case at United for 20 years) and who knows, they may struggle.

They have a good side but just looking at the Chelsea v United and City v United games last year and it is clear they were more consistent but by no means a better side than City or Chelsea - and that was with Fergie.

It is actually factual but that apart I really don't think any manager has a hope of success whilst Fergie is sat in the stands. Every move will be analyzed and compared and I don't think Below Average Moyes has the experience or character to stand up to that. He was average at Everton were expectations were much lower so with the pressure on I believe he'll fail and fail badly.

<ok> fair enough. I actually hoped he would be our manager when Redknapp left, but time will tell.

The Mancs and us will be involved in a death struggle for the top 3 places for sure! I'm curious to see the battle for the other place in Europe ! Could Evertons new manager keep out the Norf Londoners?

I'm not one of those that thinks United will sink to the abyss. They'll be challenging for sure and suspect they'll spend big to steady the ship.

One factor you are overlooking is the fact the fear factor is gone. I remember the season after Mourinho left almost every team started coming to the Bridge and playing to win. Prior to that, every team bar Arsenal came to the Bridge and put every man behind the ball. Even a Spurs side with zero confidence (and points) came to the Bridge and nicked a point. Liverpool won easily, Arsenal came from behind to win and United were very close to winning there as well as some bottom feeders.

I don't know where United will finish but I would bet my life they won't be as solid at home and they won't make much of an impact in Europe. Moyes isn't going to be able to outwit the likes of Pellegrini, Mourinho, Guardiola, Benitez, Conte, Ancelotti in Europe who have years I'd experience on him.

Don't think we will see the end of Man Utd this year, but we might see the beginning of the end. They will spend up and strengthen for sure, so don't write them off just yet. That said , I see City as the big winners and , IF we sort our midfield out, Chelsea running at the top end as well.
