Having met the QPR Board earlier this week, Rangers gaffer Neil Warnock is working tirelessly behind the scenes in a bid to get the wheels in motion ahead of the R's return to the Premier League.

Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, Warnock revealed work is already well underway as Rangers prepare for a return to the top-flight following a 15-year absence.

"We had a meeting and they reiterated their pleasure at the job I've done," he said.

"They said they're happy with how I've gone about my business in my time here and we're all planning for next season now.

"I'm just concentrating on our return to the Premier League and I'm so excited about next season."

The silly season is well underway in the national papers, with speculation rife about Warnock being forced to sell his top stars.

However, the Rangers boss has denied that's the case, commenting: "I've been given assurances that I won't have to sell my better players.

"I'm working hard behind the scenes in a bid to improve the squad ahead of the new campaign."

Apparently he has been looking at selling Scott Parker, Carlton Cole and Matthew Upson. He is also very excited about playing in the Olympic stadium .....

Oooops. Have I let the cat out of the bag?

"Ive been given assurances I won't have to sell my better players"

Is this a wind up? Isn't that something a manager says after a team has been relegated? Keeping our better players!! Thats not the assurance he needs. He needs to be told he'll be able to get 6 or 7 NEW players that are BETTER than the "better" players we already have.

I don't know about anyone else but that is the most worrying sentence I've heard from the Club since Warnock was appointed.

That will be up to Taarabt. If he wants to go, then he will.

I just think its a strange statement from a manager thats just won promotion and needs to add top quality players. I would've thought having to hold on to the 1 or 2 top players we already have capable of stepping up would go without saying. Ach maybe its just me!:emoticon-0103-cool:

Going for Danny Graham as I've just seen is, on the other hand, is a very positive sign.

No, I agree with you, it is an odd statement. However, it shows the financial dilemma the club have. They are clearly determined to keep spending within tight guidelines. One way of making more money available would be to cash on in a couple of current assets, but Warnock is being told he doesn’t have to do so. I think that the board must be trying to recoup some of the overspending from the last two seasons, as well as pay off the Amulya loan.

Is it not the case that whatever you say, say nothing?
At this stage of the proceedings no manager is going to be honest about their intended targets or how much money they have to spend. He is an old dog for the hard road and whatever is said in the press is either spin or speculation.
We're going to have to put up with this sort of tripe for the next few months. Just make sure you have a few bottles stashed for when the blood pressure rises.

You're right Twins. I think the best thing to do is not listen to any of this rubbish and look forward to the new season. The papers had us stripped of the title and condemned to the play-offs just a couple of weeks ago! Whilst I'll never be able to sit easy when Briatore is at the Club, I reckon the board won't throw away what we've already achieved.

Agree with Twins and Swords, the silly season has well and truly started.
I'm surprised no ones mentioned ground sharing with failham at the BBC studios.
