SUNDERLAND midfielder David Meyler believes Jordan Henderson can be a future England captain.

And he says fans at both club and country level should get off the Wearsider’s back.

Henderson has had a tough time since his move to Merseyside, with Liverpool fans unimpressed by the £20million midfielder’s displays in his first season.

And last weekend that disapproval transmitted itself to the Wembley terraces with Henderson’s arrival as 83rd-minute substitute for skipper Steven Gerrard being greeted by a smattering of boos.

That reaction amazed former Black Cat team-mate David Meyler who has tipped Henderson for the very top.

    ..............................................................................

Now it is very unlikely that this will ever happen, but it would be great and some miracle if it did.

Not good enough IMO if we were offered him back at half the price we sold him for I still wouldn't take him.

I like the lad he is a good pro he is never in the paper getting into trouble but on the football field what does he actually do?

Apart from backwards and sideways passing the lad has nothing in his locker, what are his strengths?

I hope the lad has a good career

If he performs as well as he did this season i see no reason why he shouldn't at least get a call up. With all this debate over 'we have no strength in midfield' crap, and england always relying on gerrard lampard parker and barry, who are all ageing and coming to the end of their carrers (except barry i think) and there being talk of scholes being re-called, i see no reason why young colback doesnt stand a chance, someone who can hold the ball, retain possesion and win it back, the sooner the likes of colback and wilshere and co start being put infront of the numerous 'has been's' the sooner england will actually make some progress.
