    They put up a good fight and did show some good moments of play, Julian Gray's goal was very good <ok>

    This is mainly for the fans though. An excellent bunch of supporters that got behind the team right from the beginning and were very good to have a good old sing song with too!

    Well done Walsall!!
    <cheers>

    I echo those comments.......the team gave there all.....Saints in turn gave an exhibition match and almost treated it as a Training ground run out. Walsalls fans were superb. It was nice to see our fans stand and applaud them when it was known that they were safe. Well done the saints fans. Wanted Lallana to score today. There you go can't have everything. Oxo should have had an hat-trick in the short time he was on. Jaidi had a bit of a mare. I recon about 90% of his passes went astray.

    I met a few Walsall guys in the Jurys Inn before the game and they were very nervous about the outcome but good lads
    Thought their support was very good and friendly too - handled the pitch invasion well

    Yes, it would have been poor to relegate the other team on such a happy occasion for us. They could sing we are staying up and watch the spectacle.

    As the Saints fans walked passed the Away coaches there was alot of shaking hands and mutual applause. Also when the coaches left mutual applause again as they passed the Saints fans. Would that happen in the Premiership?

    When we relegated Wimbledon, fans commiserated with their fans as they walked by. People called out, 'don't worry you'll be back' and 'good luck'.

    Must admit they were top notch!!<applause>

    Me & KSFC & a few others were having a drink before the match, in same pub as some of the Saddlers, when they were singing their races song KSFC was biting his lip very hard (bearing in mind his origins), boy did he want to join in.<laugh>
    As said they were just brilliant.

    Anyways, the right results for everyone on the day, so everyone went away happy singing either 'we are staying up' or 'we are going up'
    <party>

    What a season, roll on August for the next stage of the Liebherr/Cortese dream<bubbly>

    Part of me wants to get to August quickly and part of me just wants to draw breath. 3 Months of no worrying, apart from the 32 players we're going to sign.

    Yes, full credit to Walsall. I was right next to them in the Itchen. Anyone who offers full credit to Pompey however is unlikely to get their money back!

    We were in Yates before the match and the away supporters in there we very vocal, they had come for a party. Although us Saints fans did try a couple of times to sing we were outsung by them. A few of the Walsall fans managed to get back into Yates after the match and were joining in with the Saints songs then!! <party><party>

    The best bit was during the pitch invasion, a load of Saints fan went over to the Walsall and started pointing and chanting '..you are staying up, you are staying up!'

    Great fans, was pleased they stayed up on the day...not sure if they quite topped the Southend United fans a couple of seasons ago though!

    It is good sometimes to see how some supporters accept their lot without bad feeling towards the more lucky ones. Great atmosphere all day.
