Some voices note that it's a new billionaire takeower. But firstly Fulham was sold by one billionaire to another. And secondly Shahid Khan is actually a very sympatetic being, who is a popular owner of NFLs Jaguars. A team that usually sits in the heavy end of the table. He has invested alot in infrastructure and facilities over there, he loves sports and most respectable, he has made his own fortune from nothing. Washing dishes as a start. Interesting video. Seems like a nice guy. We'll soon see the impact he has on Fulham - I hope for their sake that it's a positive one.
watched a show about this guy, a top bloke actually, one of the very few genuine sports loving billionaires Fulham will do well with him in control.
Time will tell. He could be great. However, he is a newcomer in NFL and now 'proper football'. His record as NFL owner isnt great...worst ever season in the clubs history. I dont know if this is transparent as it seems, as the Jaguars are already contracted to play several of their 'home' games in London over the next few years and they (up til now) have no fan base here. There has been serious talk of a UK based NFL team for some time and he seems to be making his move early to rival the Glazier's Buccaneers as the previous only possibility....Fulham Jaguars coming soon?! The NFL is very concerned by soccers growth (especially the popularity of the Prem) and are on the attack. The NFL will throw big bucks to the owner willing to take the plunge to allow their plan for global domination to proceed. This guy is a 'Franchise' owner willing to consider uprooting Jacksonville Jaguars from Jacksonville. How safe is Fulham and it's major asset but yet it's achilles heel...its central London location worth shedloads but allowing no room for expansion? Could he sell Craven Cottage and groundshare with a NFL team but no longer in Fulham? My take: this is a fantastic aquisition for football...but the ball isnt round. Time will tell.
but man did go to the moon! There was talk of the Jaguars relocating here months before he was even linked with Fulham
This is a UK article last year...doesnt come across as a big lover of soccer and seems solely focused on Jaguars to London. Theres loads on the net over recent months. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/other.../nfl-jacksonville-jaguars-owner-hints-1373042 If I was a Fulham supporter, I'd be a little concerned. Who knows, perhaps some want to move out of The City?
Don't understand how buying Fulham would put him in a better position to import an American Football team though.
So owning a major UK sporting team/ facility, stadium, training facility, infrastructure, staff, property and the UK business contacts it brings wont help? Becoming known to the British media first wont help? Theres a multitude of reasons on top of those...most of all it will allow him to be taken seriously rather than a 'nutter who just wants to bring NFL to the UK'.
