Just a heads up anyone travelling to Fulham on 1st FEB or West Ham on 22nd Feb may be Intrested to know that South West Trains are running a promotion on weekends between the 18th JAN and 23 FEB. If you travel between any two points on South West Trains only for Example Southampton Central to London Waterloo on a day Return on any weekend between !8th JAN and 23 FEBfor £10 adults and £5 child. If you require onward travel by Undeground etc this will have to be purchased separately These tickets are available in advance or on the day. Info should be on the South West Website around the 13TH JAN if you have any questions or would like to know more either reply to this thread or PM me.
As long as your journey is South West Trains only then yes. There are a couple of SWT routes where this offer is not valid due to SWT not setting the fares. These are stations between Salisbury and Bristol , Salisbury and Portsmouth ,and stations west of Honiton
I'm going to the Fulham game. Looking at the Fulham website it says Putney station is only a little bit further from the stadium than the underground station Putney Bridge. Putney is a south west trains station so in theory you can do Southampton Central - Clapham - Putney for £10. Do you know if this offer can be combined with group save? I can't see a yes or no on the south west trains website If anyone was planning on going up by car, then could make it cheaper
Because it is a promotion you cannot use group save. The thing with group saves is that you have to travel in groups of 3 or 4 and travel there and back together so if you had ten in your group you would have to split them into groups of 3 or 4. With this offer it does not matter how many are in your group every adult is £10 every child is £5 so if any of you have different plans getting back it won't matter as you do not need to travel together.
cheers for the heads up, just wondering could this be used for a return from southampton to putney for £10? or will it be a case of getting the underground to the station near craven cottage?
Putney BR is only about a 15 minute walk from the ground. Straight up the high street over Putney Bridge and turn left.
Not necessarily true. If all threads were factual they wouldn't last very long. One post and a "thank you very much and goodnight!"
Thanks St Marv Four of us are travelling up and group save being four for the price of two, I was hoping £5 each Still a cracking deal and thanks again for mentioning this as would of cost us about £18 each even with Group save.
cheers, any news on how tickets are selling? looks to me like a lot of people bought tickets in the neutral, so think this one may reach general
Just been online to buy a ticket and there is a big warning sign saying part of the journey is by coach. Any idea whats that about for it could effect the train timing if that is going to cause delays?
From memory I was hoping to catch the 8-38 from Bournemouth to Waterloo returning about 8pm from Waterloo to B'mth
I'm not at work until tomorrow but I do know there are engineering works during some weekends during this promotion between Brockenhurst and Southampton Central with fast coaches running between Bournemouth and Southampton Airport Parkway and buses between Brockenhurst and Southampton Central
You are most welcome.Just a thought does anyone think it may be worth it for me to post when engineering work is taking place on the lines through to Southampton in advance of home games (or in some cases away games) because not all Saints fans are Southampton based. I don't know if any of our members travel to games by train?
Cheers SaintsMarv, been a real help. One last question, will it be best to order online or just leave it to the day?
You could do either but if you are not sure about going then best to leave until on the day because any refunds would have to be done through the company you book with. Even if you booked online with South West Trains a refund could not be done at the ticket office.
Thanks for the post. That is a great deal! I believe this is the link for the offer on the trains website : http://www.southwesttrains.co.uk/wintersmiles.aspx
