Maybe the apathy after friday has done it, but we seem to have no Fulham match thread with the match having already kicked off! So here we are. A match thread that contains the half time score (1-1) in the opening post. Sounds like we are'nt playing a deal better than we did against Millwall, though JBG has scored a nice goal. COYA
I was late and missed the first goal. I was hoping to read on here what happened. The BBC won't tell me either
I am afraid it is a lot more deep-seated than that. A club going nowhere finishing a season with nothing to play for. Biggest news is we have signed a 33-year-old on a one-year contract. Hardly something to set our pulses racing. 16,000 odd for a London derby. Portsmouth got that in the fourth tier on Saturday and they are in the bottom half of the table. I have been at the Valley in a crowd of 45,000 between these two teams. When both were in the second tier as now, not in our post-war glory days.
I have to say that I thought the atmosphere was good last night, despite the poor Fulham turnout (1500?) and the end of season feel about the game. And why on earth was this a GOLD game - what a rip off. I couldn't really work out who was at fault for their early goal, although from the other end of the pitch Henderson seemed to be in no mans land. My player ratings - Henderson 8 - a string of good saves Gomez 6 Fox 6 - a few good crosses first half Johnson 5 - an accident waiting to happen Ben Haim 6 JBG 6 - missed an absolute sitter in the first half Diarra 9 - good player, sort of a committed version of Pony Buyens MOM Cousins 6 - honest yeoman Bulot 6 subbed Watt 5 - gone right off the boil Vetekole 3 - awful body language, poor touch and commitment. Still too many high balls being pumped his way. Looks like he doesn't want to be here? Something not right, no rapport and understanding with Watt at all. PS - pleased to see Grubby Parker get lots of well deserved stick all night, including a confrontation with fans in the North Lower. The guy shat on us from a great height. Real fans as opposed to Internet Armchair Generals 270 miles away never forget such behaviour. Three more games for me this season, Leeds and Bournemouth at home and Birmingham away. The season cannot end quickly enough. Damp squib.
The situation at the end was Parker pointing out to a dad he had a little girl with him. Showed up the fan IMO and rightly so.
I don't like Diarra, he was good on his debut but since then I think he's looked like a donkey on the pitch, not a fan and disappointed we have signed him permanently. Would rather have had Eagles or Johnson sign.
I sit in Block B, overheard the dad saying to someone when they asked him what was going on, that he had called Parker a 'Judas c**nt, and he didnt like it' Parker had every right to confront back, that wasn't on
I would build our team around the following nucleus next season: Henderson Solly Wiggins Ben Haim Gomez Cousins JBG Eagles Watt watt Maybe add Jackson and Fox (who needs to step up)
Get rid of tat like Buyens, Bulot, Bikey, Etheridge, the Serb keeper, Le Point and consider selling Igor.
Stick some of the kids in for the rest of the season. And allow Church to lead the line in the remaining fixtures; he may not be universally loved, but he has worked hard for Charlton and deserves the chance to attract possible suitors.
Have you changed your mind about renewing next season, Roy? What will you do with your spare Saturdays and Tuesdays?
I'm not as fussed about Bulot anymore. He had a purple patch but doesn't do enough for an "expensive addition" for my liking.
GK - Henderson RB - Solly LB - Wiggins CB - Gomez CB - New LM - New CM - Cousins CM - New RM - JBG FW - Watt FW - New Subs - New New New TBH Fox Jackson Vetokele
Have to agree, ponders, though wouldn't be too disappointed if Vetokele started but we improved the creativity in midfield. It's set for an interesting summer anyway. Hopefully a good one. I'm standing outside the valley bogs now to try and get an exclusive.
