    Matty cost us £1.2m.

Barnsley is hardly 'much closer to his home', it's 80-90 miles away.

I'm surprised Forest haven't come in for him.

The HDM. Article does say he'll get his chance here unless a decent offer comes in. I suppose it all depends on what the money people think is a decent offer.

80 miles a day fewer is quite a chunk in my eyes.

None of it was sarcastic? Which bit did you think I was taking the mick with?

If it was the 800k bit, then how is that not a lot of money? In the grand days of 93m for Bale and 82m for Ronaldo it might not seem like a lot, but to the bloke who's shelling it out, it's a hell of a lot. If you had 800k in your bank, would you spend every penny on one thing?

It's kind of annoying; We've spent around £15m this Summer and the papers are like "oh they've underspent". Jesus Christ, that's a **** load of money man!

I can remember the days when we were saying 400k was a lot of money and I know it's relative to the others around us, but from a club who's been to the brink and back (twice), we shouldn't be so dismissive of money coming in and valuing players at ridiculous sums of money. Like you say, Barnsley think it's a lot of money (their record transfer fee is £1.5m) and they're right, it's a risk.

800k is a good offer for a player who's barely going to feature for us and is travelling backwards and forwards to a club who I think even he knows don't really need him at this level. The only reason I'd keep him is if we were to go down at the end of the season.

It's not even half that(unless your counting both ways) and he stays locally, he doesn't drive 120 miles each way every day.

I havent got his exact address but Nuneaton to Barnsley football club and back is 70 miles a day (I guessed and was 10 miles out) fewer than Nuneaton to Cott.

edit - and yes I specified a day, not single journey

Fryatt will need to be moved out to make room for Lukaku.

Nuneaton to Barnsley is 90 miles.

Nuneaton to Cottingham is 125 mies.

That's not 'much nearer to his home', it's just a little bit nearer to his home and I'm sure that will have little,if any, bearing on his decision to move(ie if he was writing a list of clubs he'd like to join that were closer to home, you could be damn sure Barnsley wouldn't be on it).

All relative but as I said - to me 70 miles a day is a lot.

I live 5 minutes from Nuneaton. It's literally about 20 minutes longer to get to the KC that it is to et to Barnsley. Not sure about Cottingham, never been there.

According to Google Maps, Nuneaton to Cottingham takes four minutes longer than Nuneaton to the KC.

Why? He was our top scorer 2 seasons running. Had he not been injured last season, he'd have been starting alongside Aluko. Or Gedo later in the season. For 800k you could do a lot worse.

No not really, just the bit about being right about the risk.

I didn't like him when he was here last time, he was such a waster.

Fun fact! the season you got promoted to the prem before ... we let in less goals than you that season ... and we got relegated! Just shows what part of the field wasn't pulling its weight.

We created plenty of chances that season for him to miss, so you can keep Matty '1 in 20' Fryatt.

    Yeah, all of it.

When he first joined us in January 2011, he finished our top scorer with 9. He then followed that up with 16 the following season. You're kidding yourself if you didn't think Fryatt would improve your side.

You don't stay up with 46 0-0 draws, you need a striker to score more than 2 in 30.

So his best season is Nugents standard season, and Wood scored 20 last year, though granted most of them weren't for us.

You can't expect Fryatt to come back from a season long injury and reproduce his 1 good season (not counting league 1).

This thread is such a dog's dinner.

If said dog is in Nuneaton and runs towards Barnsley at 11mph, stopping 21 times to sniff other dogs' backsides (for an average of 17 seconds each time) and four times to pee (27 seconds each), who would eat more of its dinner in the meantime: Fryatt or the Leicester fan?
