I posted the other day that'd be a perfect marriage and am thus claiming credit for alerting Flitcroft to this.

Id be stunned if he got a chance here. He must be 4th of 5th choice for the main striker role and that's if we dont sign anyone else.

I would think if they got 1 million for him they would probably cash in, as he only has a year left on his contract, plus he is probably not going to get in the starting eleven unless there are some injuries.

I'd like to see him get his chance here, he's a good player.

And if he doesn't, he's worth far more than 800k and Barnsley!

Well if they sell for £800,000 that's half the fee for that young French? lad they was reportedly looking at.

Seems a nice lad that got better and better every week he didn't play. If anyone's offering 800k for him, thanks Matty, and good luck!

Bear in mind though that the Barnsley rumour is in The *** and the Matty one is in the Dull Daily. Draw your own conclusions.

800k is a very, very good price for him in his last year and he'd do well there while being much nearer to home. It's a good deal all round.

I think given his injury last season he really needs to be playing football, especially at this stage in his career. He was a great goalscorer at Championship level and he'll have no problem scoring for Barnsley (who I think might surprise a few people this year). I'd expect a bidding war to start for him if this comes to fruition, perhaps Leicester or Doncaster will go for him, as I can't see him getting into the team ahead of Sagbo, Graham, Aluko or Proschwitz.

I know Brucey said he'd be given a chance, but I really doubt he'll be in the starting line up any time soon and he deserves better than not even making the bench.

Bollocks, is it ****. He's a great championship striker, if roles were reversed and we were the ones chasing Matty for £800k, we'd all be lying on our backs aiming our feet at North Korea ready for when it was confirmed. We'd think it an absolute steal, and to be fair what people pay for strikers these days last year or not, it would be.

I don't see why we never get the market value players are worth and let them leave on the cheap.

We paid 1.5m for Matty and thought that was cheap, now were happy to take 800k. If Charlie fecking Austin can be worth anywhere close to £5m, Fryatts worth at least £2m.

We paid £800k for Hobbs, who has improved so much over that time, a model pro and I think wouldn't look out of place in the premiership, gone for a measly £500k.

Corry Evans we got a decent fee for, what he was worth, but people reacted like we robbed a bank.

If Fryatt was at any other club in league 1 and never played in the championship, he'd still cost more than £800k.

He didnt play last year, he's in the last year of his contract. I think if anything it's generous.

It doesn't matter if he's in the last year, if we want him to stay longer he will. For the sake of letting him go almost for free, I'd keep him and see how he does. You can never have too many strickers in a premier league squad.

800k is quite a lot of money, it's hardly nothing and don't forget, he'll have had a promotion clause in his contract (I think most of the players did) so his wages will be off the books as well. Value is relative to their contributions so far, not what they might do if they stay. Matty didn't play last year, his contract ends at the end of the season and he's just recovered from a season long injury. There's no guarantee that his injury won't flare up again, so I'd say 800k is a pretty good offer. Maybe they could throw in Mellis as well.

Fans on their forum think it's a lot and say we should chuck in Mclean for that price too. Little do they know they CAN have him for free! We should do this, 2 sizeable wages off an inflated area of the squad where we have average ability.

You clearly cannot detect sarcasm, and that's a bit of an exaggeration, even if he wasn't being sarcastic.

3 fans have posted on their forum, and all 3 said it would be great business <laugh>

Would be a good deal for us, 800k with only one year left on his contract.
It would make sense to him as well, he needs to play games but also he is commuting a long way from home to Cottingham.

£800k for a striker who didn't play last season and in the final year is a decent price. Similar to what we paid for him, a rarity for us to move a player on without losing a **** load. I'd definitely sell, he's not good enough for this league.
