Frimpong Off

Discussion in 'Arsenal' started by Robin van Bergkamp, Aug 20, 2011.

  1. Now to me this is another area Arsene needs to work on and get right. If it's not injury, we snooker ourselves because players get themselves sent off <steam>

Anyone who gets sent off should not be paid during their sin bin period!!!

Shame as I thought he was having a decent game, but it was a horrendous tackle

    Down 1 goal

We were doing fine considering until a very bad piece of luck.

I think though that you do create your own luck as well. Going in with what is technically not our first team is already the work of an inadequate management. That we get players sent off too is down to the management not giving sufficient attention to this area of our team character. I was thinking that Lee Dixon's piece about Liverpool winning being a blessing in disguise since it would force Arsene to buy. However if the man can't buy after our catastrophic meltdown last season, what indeed would convince him to buy now?

Don't understand what he was given the first yellow for. Theo was eyeballing the ref, running his mouth.....no card. Liverpool seem to have assembled a rather average team at great expense.

  5. It really doesn't matter what Pool have. It's the three points that count but if we get beaten by an average team, what does that make us?

Thanks Wenger. It's time to buy or it's time to go

Do you think Wenger will leave on the back of this performance? It may be time for a new manager and I mean that with the greatest respect. (I have been one of the Wenger supporting brigade but things can't get much worse)

  7. A new man would need time to gather everything together and Arsene may not leave him with enough of a team anyway so really we have nothing now, so why not simply cut our losses?

Things not getting any worse? Wait till next Wednesday and then the weekend. Actually it was bad enough when we managed 3 wins in the final 15 in all competitions last season. Arsene was clueless at stoping the rot. Now he is clueless at just about everything but buying youngsters for next to nothing.

Stand corrected on Theo's yellow. Rewatch Frimpong's first yellow & tell me if players don't do that without sanction game to game in EPL. Henderson pushed Frimpong as a response to his demand for the ball for what looked an Arsenal throw. Balotelli comparison is premature, Wilshere got away with as much if not worse up until his sending off last term. Look forward to seeing more of Frimpong, & Jack & he in combination once again.

After the 1st booking after a few mins, I did fear for him as the position he plays and his job involves primarily tackling and breaking up play.In general play, I thought he did well.

Agree that someone really should clamp down on the number of silly reds we get. Or more like stupid yellows which leave you on a knife edge all game where one poorly timed tackle = red. We should use subs better as whenever I see song on yellow and then get a warning he should be subbed. Why wait until u can't? In fairness to frimpong he had a cracking game, cards aside. Inexperience cost him. He uses the ball much better than song and u live the positive barnstorming runs and heaven forbid for our team he had a shot!

Frimpong's first yellow was embarrassing to watch - what was he thinking?

The tackle on Lucas came after a mixture of good and terrible tackles. He made about 5 poor challenges in the first 10 minutes.

The tackle on Lucas, interestingly, showed an inexperienced, impulsive (read: liability) player challenge a composed, committed player. It's no surprise he walked. Frimpong must curb his enthusiasm and become more like Lucas.

What's wrong with Balotelli's career? Has won lots of trophies (including the champions league), earns a **** load of money and is already a cult figure on top of that.

I don't think Frimpong can have any complaints about being sent off. The 1st yellow was a bit harsh, but he shouldn't have got involved really.

The 2nd yellow could easily have been a straight red.

Frimpong red card was stupidly attain, but I must credit his performance on the field. to me he was more aware of the position he plays than song.
He was always there to help out with the defense. He a better passer of the ball than Song and is not afraid to shoot. hope he continues to progress.

I read the title "Frimpong off" and immediately thought that we were selling him now as well, not that he was red carded yesterday.

  16. Sorry, that was me. I raised the thread following his sending off. Was looking or a sympathetic shoulder ;)

Wouldn't suprise me though if we did decide to sell him. He looks a natural holding player, and good holding midfielders are rare.
