@CAFCofficial: Charlton starting XI: Henderson; Solly, Fox, Bauer, Diarra; Gudmundsson, Cousins, Ba, Wiggins; Watt, Vetokele. #cafc #CAFCLive This looks like the starting line up if no one comes in. @CAFCofficial: Subs: Pope, Jackson, Harriott, Pigott, Ahearne-Grant, Lennon, Obileye, Barnes, Charles-Cook, Holmes-Dennis, Muldoon, Makienok #cafc
Of that starting XI, there are only four we can rely on to be of the required fitness and standard throughout the season: Henderson Solly (fitness?) Fox (Div One standard) Bauer (unknown) Diarra (fitness?) Gudmundsson Cousins Ba (unknown?) Wiggins (fitness? position?) Watt Vetokele (fitness?) Let's hope we hang on to that quartet, that at least two out of the three new signings come good, and that a couple of the youngsters on the bench develop rapidly. If things go the other way, we will be in a Blackpool situation.
Let us hope that RD sees for himself how poor our squad is. But I am sure that with the three Bournemouth players and the top class Frenchmen we will be alright. Just a bit of light hearted banter Reams, no need to take offence.
Totally different XI second half. Piggott the only one not to get a run-out so far. Where is Zak Ansah? Is he injured? He is already over 21 and if considered not good enough to even make the trip it is pointless hanging on to him. I understood his form picked up a bit at the *** end of last season?
Our strongest team and we managed one shot, sounds about right. But atleast we have a new ticketing system and big screen.
Memo to RD. If you didn't know before, you now know WE NEED SOME NEW PLAYERS. Before the new season would be nice.
I am the last to defend the current ownership and administration, but losing by the odd goal to a decent team is hardly a disaster, or even an omen. It all depends where the two teams are in respect to their pre-season training. Last season we lost by two goals to Standard in a 45-minute match. I fear the worst this season unless we make at least four good signings (not squad fillers) but this match provides no evidence either way. It is was just a training session. Only point of interest to me would be if any of the youngsters showed up well. Sounds as if Pope did well. Anyone else?
luzons post match comments read as him being some what frustrated with the lack of transfer activity. Do you think it's possible he will start to get the sympathy of the fans?
I'm sympathetic towards him. I was towards Bob too. Neither of them were probably aware of what they were getting into;; they just jumped at the chance to work in England. The managerial merry go round is even merrier in Europe so they probably weren't gambling too much if it didn't work out. Luzon seems to be a good coach; it's clear he's limited - especially by not knowing the language properly and the mentality - but he's also not directly responsible for transfers. I suppose any sympathy would be in sent in a more cultish kind of way; similar to the way in which I liked Dennis Rommedahl. That said I will be forever bemused by his touch line antics.
Don, FFS man, get a grip ! You should know by now that there is NO RUSH. Relax, enjoy the summer at Dansom Park, knit yourself a new cardigan and sip some Iced Bovril. We have been a selling Club since I first started going in 1876 and as long as I can still see my mummified mates on the six hour, half empty Valley Express coach trip up from my caravan in Jaywick.....WHAT IS THE PROBLEM ? #CharltonLIfe
I read Luzon's comments after the game yesterday as the first public sign of frustration with his employers. Very similar happened with Riga and Luzon. I did laugh at Damien Matthew's comments about the lack of signings - "it is hard to sign players". Of course it is when you are offering them 500 Euros a week and a room at the Marriott Hotel in Greenwich. Luzon has stated what we all know. The squad is thinner than Mo Farah's willy.
thinner than Mo Farah's willy? The squad is very thin but I have no information about the Farah part to make a comparison? "Very similar happened with Riga and Luzon" .... edit.... Very similar happened with Powell, Riga and Bob...
Looking at the Valley Express update at the last Fans forum, I can't see it lasting much longer. I am not saying that travelling numbers are low, but Rick now has a coach all to himself
Early days still. RD has the matter in hand (and I am not referring to Mo Farah's genitals) Repeat until QPR
