13:42 Fakenham - wind of fire 7/2 In great form and will find this trip much more suitable than last time. Hopefully can stay this far.
Kelso 16,22 African Belle 13/2 e/w Won his last three PTP, makes debut under rules but I think she can do it well.
Hopefully they'll find something amiss with Protektorat, that was a horrible performance today and I doubt we'll be seeing him at the festival. Jumped badly right throughout and was never really going after skying the first - perhaps an over-reach?
Think they bottomed him in that race with Messire and I hope they give him a good break now. Poor campaigning of a horse.
I'd be tempted to enter him in one of the big handicap hurdles at Aintree - nice bit of spring ground and get his confidence back over the smaller obstacles. Then send him off for the summer. I don't think he wants real winter ground.
Two very good rides I saw at Fakenham today, Tom Cannon on one, almost came out of the saddle, showed great strength to stay on board and gather himself to go on and score, the commentator didn't even mention the event during running and then Bridget Andrews had a great sit aboard a winner later on as well, almost going out the side but showing good strength to hold on and go on for an easy win. Adam Wedge has a good day there, rode the track the best of any jockey there today and got a couple of wins from it. Just added another in fact. I like him a lot as a jockey. Is Protektorat actually that good either way? I wasn't a fan before today, and certainly don't think he's a high class horse after it. I agree re the campaigning, but you have to trust connections know what's best, but it doesn't always work out.
Ran a cracker for a long way Pilgrim, jumped very well and obviously just tired out of it on thee ground, which only a few horses can plough though with a desirable effect. Bit of better turf and there's more races to be had. Nice drift for ya in the end.
Yes, drifting all day and that worried me but, as you say, she ran very well until she got tired. The only thing that was clear to me about the race was that the favourite didn't win. I love Hunters' Chase.
