How do you feel about mega rich celebrities...footballers or otherwise getting freebies all over the place.....(cue the puns)?

Is it ok, and a kind of free advertising for the companies....or should they pay.....they can afford it...

Found a thread on Titus getting free food at Nandos....£35...that had a mixed reaction...

His reply was "Nandos always tastes better free".

    Any thoughts?

Was in Viva Brazil three weeks ago in Castle St, Liverpool with our lass and the bairn (a wee treat that dosent come along too often).Anyway a certain Everton defender comes in with a party of about 5 and to my utter dismay, (after approx 2 hours) the manager marches over to him and declares "not to worry Sir, no charge , its on the house Mr Distin ". Looking at what they had plus drinks..easily a £300 plus bill.....I was gutted, Iam working every minute god sends just to give my family the odd treat once in a blue moon

Seems the way mate. I bet that manager's still ****ing off over it.

If I was his gaffer I'd take the bill from his wages or he'd be out the door, soft fawning ****.

Have to agree about Distin & Bramble - bollocks that.

I often go to Nando's when I can afford it and am yet to get anything for free - spicey chickedn bastards!! ALthough they are lush!!

There's the advertising thing (anyone remember the late 80's/early 90's when players used to get their names plastered all over their car along with the garage they bought it from!!) but effectively that's fine but simply going for an impromptu meal somewhere and getting it for free because of who you are is out of order IMO

If they had anything about them they would insist on paying in this current economic climate..

Marcus, I think this whole sorry practice is more widespread amongst pro footballers than we all think. In my occupational capacity, I work Liverpool City Centre area and Ive been reliably informed that there are several wine bars and restaurants in the city where basically its a free tab for any EFC or Liverpool Football player. What kinda message does that give out.....madness !!

There is no such thing as a free meal. The other poor bloody customers are paying for it.

An ex girlfriend of mine worked at Ramside Hall a number of years ago when she-ra Rob Lee and couple of others turned up and got their scivvy to ask for a free round of golf. Pocket change to these guys but sticks in the craw of the average working man /woman.
