Feels he has another 2-3 years at the top level and knows he might not get that at Chelsea. At his age, is he a realistic target for us now and would you have him as our CM alongside Catts.
Of course anyone would take him, but he's a Cockney as Big Ben, and Harry is his uncle. He won't be coming anywhere without a London postcode, ever.
Similar to Scholes in that if he goes to a club who can put fast and good quality players around him to anticipate his passes then his delivery and vision are still there and he can still turn games and look class. If he goes somewhere he is expected to be a box-to-box midfielder and run the game whilst sprinting then he'll look leggy and 'past it'. In my opinion he needs to be in a 5 man midfield with willing runners and he'll be class, but if he goes for the money he'll be shafted (in terms of the football) and loaded - contradictino i know.
Well, not for the first time, I will buck the trend (lol) and say that I wouldn't touch him with a 50ft barge pole. We don't need anymore over the hill players looking for one more big pay day but who don't really give a ****e about the football they play. I'd like to see lads with something to prove here not ones who have done it and cant be arsed any more but still expect to be pampered, guaranteed their place and then well fed (bank rolled) for a pension top up exercise. I'd sooner have a 22 year old Jordan Henderson back with a point to prove and a bee in his bonnet and a 28 year old Stewart Downing who is a decent player who will be also smarting at his Liverpool failure. A 34 year old London loving Frank Lampard simply isn't going to be of any benefit to us at all.
Would'nt have him. The last thing we need in our situation is somebody to jog about in the centre circle and square the ball 5 yards for the whole game. Lampard can go on until his 40's - doesn't matter that he has no pace as he has never had pace.
