1) Foster "" QPR close on keeper swoop By Jacob MurtaghJun 7 2012 Add a commentRecommend inShare.0 Share on emailShare on print Ben FosterQPR are closing in on the £5million capture of Birmingham City keeper Ben Foster. Rangers boss Mark Hughes has made bringing in another shot-stopper one of his main priorities in the summer transfer window after leaking 66 goals in just 38 games last season. QPR have been linked with Rob Green, Shay Given, Heurelho Gomes and Craig Gordon, but the Birmingham City star has jumped to the top of the list. Foster, who still has a year to run on his contract at St Andrews, was a big hit on loan at West Brom last season, and is keen to remain in the Premier League. Hughes will give the green light for current number one Paddy Kenny to leave Loftus Road once he brings in another keeper, with Leeds United waiting in the wings Read More http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/london-qpr/2012/06/07/82029-31132641/#ixzz1x6fwLGKv""" 2) Kenny """ Paddy Kenny: QPR ready to listen to offers for keeper this summer .Sky Sports understands Queens Park Rangers are ready to listen to offers for goalkeeper Paddy Kenny. QPR boss Mark Hughes is in the market for a new goalkeeper and, if he brings in a new No.1, he is ready to let Kenny move on. Kenny impressed for QPR this season by playing a key role in their survival in the Premier League. The likes of Ben Foster and Rob Green have been linked with moves to Loftus Road and news of Kenny's possible availability has alerted a number of clubs. With Kenny in the final year of his contract, Hughes is thought to be willing to sell the 34-year-old for a knockdown fee in the region of £300,000. Leeds are thought to be leading the race for Kenny with Whites boss Neil Warnock keen on being reunited with the custodian for a fourth time having worked with him at Bury, Sheffield United and QPR. Several other sides are also monitoring Kenny's situation at Loftus Road knowing the keeper could be a bargain signing this summer.""" .
"Kenny impressed for QPR this season by playing a key role in their survival in the Premier League." Absolute bollox. If that is the case then why are we looking for another keeper?
Me neither, was good in the PNC but clearly found out in the PL where he was terrible apart from 3 or 4 games.
PK has served us well but I'd rather have Foster as No1 keeper. Paddy as second choice if he would stay but I imagine he would prefer to go.
Looking back on his performances, there were at least 7 goals he conceded by moving to one side only for the ball to go where he was standing and into the net. I know MH is after Foster but still think Craig Gordon would be as good and on a free. Rob Green is on a free as well so do we need to spend £5Mill?
I agree with the above....He let in some stinkers this season , but i'll still miss him between the sticks...
HTML: The only thing with Gorgon is he didn't play last season and will need time to get going again. But where as Foster played every game for wba last season is well up to speed with the pl.
Thing is it all works itself out in wages anyway. so outlay over 4 years prob won't be much different. Don't agree Gordon should be ranked with these two, he will do well to get a game in the CCC.
I think the quote for signing green was 50k a week on wages. That would be £13m over 5 years Sign Foster for £5m and pay him 40k and it would be £15.4m and hed still have some resale value. Foster is worth more than 500k a year over Green. Barton is a prime example of a "free" costing the club a fortune.
Gordon's a very poor Goalkeeper. If Hughes wants Foster, people had better be prepared for a lot of howlers from this guy. Maybe he makes up for it with some great saves, I don't know. As far as I'm concerned, neither are any better than the pudgy stopper we have already. Which says it all about the pair of them really.
I am not too ggod at seeing good players at teams other than QPR because unless a game doesn't involve QPR and isn't reaally good or needs a winner to help us stay up etc, I tend to fall asleap! Likewise I barely watch players on the oppostion teams. But one goalkeeper I have the impression is good is the Danish no 2 to de Gea at United. Can't remeber his name, but I know he is young, he played in Norway before joining United, and have seen him play very well for Denmark. Maybe he wants more regular first team football than he is getting at ManUl?
