Not sure if anyone else popped along to the Fans Forum but it was all pretty standard stuff - nothing controversial or unexpected. Main highlight, that there is money available for the January window. However, it is unlikely big signings will be made during that period. Budgets are set and some targets are already identified for next summer when rebuilding the squad will continue. Certainly no sign of any pressure whatsoever on the manager who spoke, as you'd expect, in a dignified and calculated manner. Mcnally didn't seem unduly concerned with the way everything is progressing on the pitch although I'm sure he'll want to see improvement. No word on expansion of the stadium but there is work to be done at Colney. Good to hear from Ricky Martin also, who made it clear how much impact the manager has had on youth development. A new Under 21 manager is to be appointed shortly. Other than a few moans about ticketing and the old 'two up front' nonsense, there wasn't a great deal worth mentioning!

It would seem that David McNally is 'embarrassed' by our position and with the money we have spent over the summer you can't really argue with that.
Are we to interpret this as the 'dreaded vote of confidence' ??

Haha, it's a weird vote of 'confidence' if it is!

Must admit I find the word "embarrassed" a bit of a strange one for him to have used. If we were bottom with zero points then maybe, but not when we're only a couple of points off mid-table and three off the top half

Just shows the ambition of the club and Mcnally himself really.

He expects that given the amount of money that has been spent on transfers that we should be doing better and have a higher league position.

i think anyone who heard him speak last night would say that the word 'embarrassed' is a bit odd and almost certainly not the word he intended. he seemed pretty happy with how things were progressing and once again reiterated that its early days in the season. it certainly isn't the 'dreaded' vote of confidence! obviously nobody should be 'happy' to be 18th but its not as if we are a) cut adrift or b) playing badly. sorry to disappoint kickitoff, but hughton is still viewed as our long term manager by everyone important at the club.

And I hope that this is the case. I have said many times that there is little to be gained by the managerial roundabout and CH has done well enough to maintain his tenure and the last couple of performances have silenced some of the critics on this board. It proves that he is assembling the right type of squad and adapting to a system that suits, if the players do not perform then that is hardly the manager's fault. It is alarming how many managers are in an allegedly dodgy position currently with Pardew and Jol being another two in the frame but really with just 7 games gone only one - Di Canio could ever really be considered vulnerable and that was because he is a lunatic and the appointment itself was ridiculous. Steady as she goes please and things surely will continue to improve.

I'm not disappointed, just surprised it's taken so long for McNally to give CH a kick up the arse with regard to his approach to games. This is exactly what has happened after a conversation overheard in the Gunn club involving an Ex player who shall remain nameless <ok>

But there is no evidence of any change at all in CH's "approach to games". Just evidence on the field that, now that the short term injuries are sorting themselves out, and everybody is pretty much match fit and available for selection, it is clicking into place. <ok>

sorry but this is almost certainly bullshit.

according to mcnally, he is in charge of the club, hughton is in charge of all football matters. mcnally won't tell hughton how to run the team - i'm sure if he did hughton would walk away. he has full control of where the club wants to go on the pitch, mcnally off it. stage one of hughton's plan took place last season, stage two this season and so forth.

why is that so hard a concept to understand for some folk?
