Ok, as much as Betsy can be a frustrating player. We really seemed to miss that width yesterday. I can safely say that missing out on Donnely to Swansea wasn't a great loss as he isn't really giving us the creativity we need in midfield. I can see why he's not getting a game there.

You have to feel sorry for both LJ and Montrose. LJ is surely a better defender than Bennett and gives our central defensive partnership some much needed pace.
Montrose was pretty much the stalwart of the team for half the season and has lost out to Lewis (who has been great for us).

Up front, Rendell and Pitmann look the most likely to me. I'd like to see Beaver in midfield or just behind the strikers where his clever work can feed the more clinical finishers. Strevens is a workhorse, but is certainly not going to get us 20 goals a year and is never a right winger.

On Tuesday i'd like to see (given Betsy and Blomers absence) the following:

    Bull

    Straker - Johnson - Winfield - McCoy

    Lewis - Montrose - Ainsworth

    Beavon

    Pitmann - Rendell

    What are peoples thoughts?

straeker can play left midfield and if we are gonna play bennett we must play 3 at the back with mccoy and straeker as wing backs

    my team:
On Saturday, I thought we were bad mainly due to the fact our midfield was weak. Ainsworth looked tired and I think needs a rest, and we suffered from a lack of cutting edge in the midfield. Also, I thought the crosses into the area didn't work well enough, as no-one seemed to get onto the end of it.

What I suggest is playing lewis in a holding midfield role, and playing straker and mccoy as wingbacks. This would allow us to exploit their pace, which has limited to just helping Betsy and Ainsworth.

This would also then allow us to play montrose, lewis and donnelly in the same team, which should help create more chances. Donnelly was way to defensive in the last game, and i think playing him in a more advance role with montrose would be better.

In attack, I think if we operate beavon as a centre forward, just behind pittman and rendell as strikers, we should be able to play all three in the same team without them getting in each other's way.

Lastly, we can't go another match without Leon Johnson
    Bull
    Johnson - Winfield
    Mccoy - Lewis - Straker
    Donnelly - Montrose
    Beavon
    Rendell - Pittman

I'm kinda liking the formation theblues. We definitely should try Beavon behind Rendell and Pittman. COYB

You have some well reasoned ideas on formation. Is there a route to Gazza to make suggestions?
