TBF Jenny I think most people aren't moaning just commenting that we can still play better. This is the best time I can remember as a Saints fan since the Keegan Shilton years and what makes this so special is that there is almost certaimly better to come!

Last season after 14 games we only had 12 points. Whoops sorry CBK!

Agree with Lamballana here. We are doing well which is fantastic but we've managed to be where we are without really playing well. I don't think a bit of constructive criticism should always be labelled as "moaning minnies". I can't think for one minute that our management team is thinking that we've done it now, nothing more we can do to improve.

I think Saints fans have high standards...we want to be near top of the league whilst playing stunning football, having best academy, etc. We are attracting lots of favourable attention, so think we should enjoy our present position. Mauricio has said that we have more work to do (by we, he means them :)), so I am hopeful that things will get even better. We are good fans though and treat our players well if they try their best...let's not turn into ManU fans.

By treat our fans well, do you mean abuse them like Guly? :|

    We haven't lost perspective.

Every team has its share of very optimistic fans and pessimistic fans. And those who don't like to criticize players and those who constantly want improvement. On this board at least, even the harshest critics of the team or certain players are at pains to say that they appreciate where the team stands now and that all things considered, things are pretty good. No one is calling for new owners or a new manager, or saying that the club will never get anywhere or threatening to turn in their season tickets or boycotting the team or anything like that.

Indeed. I'm enjoying the moment and enjoying the banter with other's who I speak to especially the Man U fans but that doesn't mean I am going to bury my head in the sand and proclaim we are playing superb football. The results are great, the performances OK. If that continues great. If we can play better as well as get results, even better.

Sadly it doesn't take many bullying fans to be noticed against the rest. Guly has done nothing to earn abuse...he has been involved in our success and tries hard. He is probably not good enough now...especially with our high pressing style, but warranting abuse...never.

We are getting the points and are in a good position....the exciting thing is that I don't think we are at our best. This is frustrating, but also exciting if you imagine how good we could be if we hit our straps.

The way this statement of the bleedin' obvious has been treated like a mysterious revelation is astonishing. No match report in The Independent this morning but there is this quote from Rickie. What was he going to say? OK lads, two successive wins so we can all go out on the piss? This is NOT a dig at Rickie, just in case anyone wondered.

Well said. The key difference is that the club now has ambition. The more mature fan will recall that Keegan and eventually Big Mac himself left because of the lack of ambition. All credit to Cortese and the Liebherr family.

Meanwhile, Jenny, that bit of perspective is always good. However, I think there are very few Saints who have forgotten just how **** it was so recently. The fact that we have players playing in the Premier League who were playing in the teams that took us out of Div One and the Championship is one of the great buzzes of the current situation, and a reminder to all of us that we have come so far, so quickly. In 2009 I would have settled for being an OK Championship side after nearly going out of business. Happy Days!

Yeah OK, I'm in that category now. I've reached the year where I tick the next box of age category in the questionnaire. Boo..! :)

And I know there is still a little resentment to Keegan, and later Lawric Mac, out there for leaving the club. Anyone who listens to KK talking about those days can only come to the conclusion that the club was only kidding itself if it could do it all on a shoestring. And other players comments only cement the impression. To be honest, I think most of the board were suffering from altitude sickness, most of the time, back then. On Lawrie, it was just fantastic player-management that got such a brilliant blend of successful footballers in who knew how to play and were still hungry to do things. What we needed was a Cortese and Liebherr for those days.

Never mind. Since the 8th of July 2009, ambition has been here in bundles. More than we could ever have hoped for.
