Aye the footy part is boring, but what about the under lying story. A convicted rapist getting another chance to bask in the glory and earn loads of coin. Live and let live, or persecute forever? ............................................................................. Ilombe Mboyo was nearly a West Ham player until fans found out about his rape conviction and voiced their outrage on Twitter. But can football help rehabilitate a criminal? Pierre Bodenghien immediately knew he'd spotted a gem. "He had everything - size, technique and physicality," remembers the 58-year-old scout. "He was equally good with his left and right foot and very versatile." Bodenghien was watching Ilombe Mboyo play in an unusual setting - the Ittre jail in Brussels - and the training session was being held as part of the pioneering 'Football in Prison' scheme he was running, which had been started in 1995 by Princess Paola [now Queen Paola] of Belgium. At the time, Mboyo's emergence seemed to be the crowning glory of the scheme. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24064975
We nearly signed him in the Summer. You can take the boy out of Africa, but you can't take Africa out of the boy. My reaction to the news we'd opted to get a normal, white man instead: please log in to view this image
I'm the persecute forever type of person. Mistakes can be forgiven, but raping a wummin is not in that ballpark.
Although I'd like to think I'm of the "give the lad a second chance" school of thought I doubt I'd be so charitable if his victim was a member of my family.
Agreed, ****s like that should never get paid for playing football. All rapists should have their knackers removed, if he volunteers for that procedure then i'd be happy to see him play... Just not for my club.
All footballers are borderline rapists. Allegedly. EDIT: in the words of Bill Bailey, footballers are a bunch of millionaire semi-literate borderline rapists whose job it is to shepherd a bag of air into an outdoor cupboard.
