Not sure how valid this report is and doesn't seem to include all factors but thought I'd post it anyway. http://transferleague.co.uk/ Interesting snippet: since the conception of the Premier League in 1992, Norwich have spent slightly more whilst Ipswich have been more successful on sales.
What this shows, which I appreciate is no surprise, is that there is very little financial difference between all the clubs other than Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, the Manchesters and Tottenham. 14 teams between £60m and £93m, then nothing until £144m. Even Everton and Newcastle are much, much closer to our financial position than the lowest of the big teams, Tottenham. The disparity is absolutely massive and, purely on a financial basis, Man U should win the premier league more often than not...
Interesting to note our net cash position plus we have the lowest ratio of wages to turnover which can only be healthy. I was very surprised to see that our turnover was only a fraction lower than Evertoin's. Clearly the marketing people are doing a decent job. I know it's only a snapshot but looking at the table we are (financially) a strong mid-table premeirship team, particularly when you consider the lack of debt we have to service in comparison with other clubs. As for comparisons between us the the boys down the road surely the key point is that as we grow richer we will not have to sell and we will spend more so our ratio will move one way and as they will likely have to sell anyone decent they have to keep clearing out the losses their ratio will move in the opposite direction. No reflection on either clubs ability to generate or buy decent players and sell them on at a profit, more a comment on the disparity between their need to sell for finance and our not having to.
Very interesting stats supers, Just out of interest i wonder what the figures between the 2 clubs if you took away the last couple of years? I reckon it would have pretty neck and neck. what do you think? Just goes to show that the premier league is definately the place to be.
Guru's time in the sin bin has calmed him down quite a bit. I wonder how long it will take to become a dick again? It's good while it lasts though.
