There does appear to be a strong rumour going around that the afore mentioned are about to become the new Cannon and Ball at Crystal Palace. I do find this quite surprising as the opinion of a number at Argyle is they don't want Fletcher because he is useless. It would make sense from a Fletcher point of view for him to attach himself to somebody like Coppell however. I wonder if this is just idle gossip or there really is a good chance of this.
Crystal Palace at present are flying high, top London Championship team in 4th place only 4 points behind the ex-Argyle fired up Cardiff. Coppell is an highly respected thinking mans manager who had a tremendous playing career at Man U/England only finished by injury. He has Managed at Palace three times before plus being Technical Director, also six good years at Reading.......plus Brentford.Brighton,Man C and probably elsewhere that I can't recall at present. I haven't seen any rumours as yet .....but I cannot believe a technician like Coppell would need someone like Fletcher to help him.....we are talking of the right Fletcher ? Coppel in his managing career has at times succumbed to illness possibly because of pressure of the job.
I have found an article stating that Palace have approached Crawley regarding offering Coppell the post of technical Director of Football.......no talk of a helper in the article.
It was mentioned in the Sunday Telegraph plym. It was also mentioned on the Palace chat website I was looking at trying to check it out. I must admit it raised my eyebrows a tad but it is out there honestly it is.
Thanks Gat. What are the chances of that happening I wonder. Half of Argyle are praying it does and no doubt the other half would prefer it not to. I must admit to not thinking our Fletcher would be linked anywhere.
I personally don't think he is good enough and without the cocoon of The President and Brent, he probably wouldn't last a month .... it must be a windup ... we are 18th in the bottom league come on they can't be serious .... can they ?
Yes sensible I eventually found that artical this morning before I went out.........just speculation....makes a story doesn't it.....that's Sky for you.....would be gobsmacked if it happened........like Christmas coming early.
I bet Fletcher could drag a good team like Palace down to our level in six months......they would be totally mad even to jokingly consider him......could we get a bribe together and get them to take him........OH DEAR I will be upsetting notDistant with my negative attitude. They gave him away to us in the first place peasants.
SKY are the only ones pushing Fletcher....with talk of an unknown source....typical comment with no facts. Checked out a few Palace fan sites and there is no mention of Fletcher....they do mention quite a few high flyers they would like to see come in but Fletcher certainly is not among them.
What do you mean Gat........they were worried we'd do to well if he stays........If we had a fan at Sky ....they could have bought Argyle ten times last year from there tea money tin.
Along with a thousand other players Fletcher once played for Palace which is the only possible connection that could be made. Why out of all the managers out there would somebody come up with Fletcher's name out of the blue? It's not exactly the marriage one would predict is it with Coppell and Fletcher. I'm not saying he will be offered the post or go or is even in the running as I'm not privvy to anything Palace do. I'm saying you don't just make something up in this context without somebody somewhere being told something which makes it at least slightly believable.
The story on the block now appears to be Holloway will be appointed............Oh well.....there's always the Blackpool job.
Well Palace do seem to be confident about landing Ian Holloway......he does look out for the best chance.....I assume he must of kissed the Blackpool badge recently....that's generally the sign of moving on. His Misses must be cursing him.......they have only recently moved in to a new house on the Fylde coast......Palace expect him to be in the Directors box on Saturday..... if negotiations between the two clubs are resolved.......warning for Palace.....never let him kiss the badge it's a bad omen.
