This is a shock, Mellon has been sacked by Fleetwood after all he has done, he took them up and they are doing well, I think they are mad doing this. What's your thought? http://www.fleetwoodtownfc.com/2012/12/01/mellon-leaves-town/
Yeah it is mad, third version of the club, I did not know much about them but I have been reading about them tonight, he took over in 2008 and they were bottom of the Conference North, they finished 8th and he then took them up got to the Play off semi final in the first season in the Blue Square Prem then went up the next season, doing well this season and sack there manager, that is really intelligent, They sacked their last manager after a few promotions just because they started bad, have they thought that maybe they were doing the best they can, at the start of the season I thought that them being favourites was just because of Stevenage and Crawley going up straight away and I thought they would finish mid table but they have been good and amazingly are up there, I think Mellon should take the credit so they are out of order, I hope they live to regret this and they fall down the league as that would teach the owner for people an idiot.
Live about two miles from their ground, rumours are they are heavily in debt, they are actually paying more in wages than North End are, like to know were the money is coming from.
We heard the same about Crawley last season, that is why they had to sell a lot of top players but then look at them now, they were playing the money game with the club financed by loans and it must be the same with Fleetwood then.
League One Crawley have an average attendance of 3,402 League Two Fleetwood are even worse at 2,995 We do not need the lower leagues infested with Premier League mentality. Any team that takes to that route, will eventually get their day of reckoning.
Yeah this is damaging our leagues with all these small teams coming up with hardly any fans and bigger clubs dropping down like Luton, Cambridge and Darlington, they are three big clubs which would still have more fans in non league games. It is like the clubs are swapping around, the only fans they will gain is glory hunters which is bad as that makes them clubs that people will hate, on the other hand there is Stevenage who are a small club however they don't spend too much and they have done so well even though they still run on a small budget.
Idiotic madness what is the point of this mentality of sacking a manager with no justified reason apart to please some part of various egotistical chairmen / owners
Listening to views of various Fleetwood fans on forums, it seems there are 2 'reasons' why Micky Mellon was sacked. 1/ They have spent an absolute motza on their squad and expect to be in our position. 2/ Mellon is not particularly liked by Fleet fans (despite the promo's) because of his Blackpool connections and frequent falling out with the fans over the years. Sounds like a fair few of them think he is lucky to have stayed this long. Both are very bad reasons for sacking a manager with such a decent record. I might sound like a dinosaur, but i wouldn't lose sleep if they (and Crawley) soon end up back down in non-league. I wouldn't wish them going bust purely for the sake of their true fans.
I've just been on their forums and cant believe the amount of madness going on there as well. I know there must be some bad blood but it seems like there fans are just as impatient as their chairman.
I went on their yesterday and was shocked by what I was reading, for all he has done they should respect the man, someone who gets you to safety in his first season promotion in the second, play offs in the third then promotion in the fourth then a place in the play offs in the league in the 5th season is a very good manager and I think he has done well with them. Some fans are stupid and really anger me with how much they expect they have come from no where, it is just like how Man City fans always expect loads now they have the money.
