Sky pundits give him 5 games NOT SMOOTH FOR McINNES? Hi Peter, Do you think that Bristol City have given Derek McInnes enough time in the managerial hot-seat and he should be replaced? If so, who do you see as a contender for the post? I would like to see Harry Redknapp, but can't really see that happening? Bob Wear (Tottenham fan) BEAGS SAYS: As a Tottenham fan, Bob, I thought you would have been advocating Harry Redknapp to come back to White Hart Lane, not touting him for the as-yet-unavailable Bristol City manager's post. Derek McInnes and his team are on a disastrous run of six defeats on the spin after conceding two more goals on Tuesday night to a Birmingham side who had scored only five goals in their previous seven home games. Just to highlight City's deficiencies, Birmingham, who clinched their first home win in five, had 20 shots at goal and McInnes described the performance as embarrassing for himself, the players and fans who were subjected to it. One point off the bottom and four from safety is not a surprise as a lot of their frailties were there last season and I always thought they would struggle this term without major defensive additions. Even at this early stage of the season the alarm bells will be ringing in the boardroom and the men in charge have a dilemma: do they back the manager and allow him to make signings, or opt for a change and give the new man funds. There are a lot of points still available and a lot good managers out of work, but I would give Derek five more games, starting with Sunday's six pointer at newly-promoted Charlton, who will be buoyed by a 5-4 victory against Cardiff on Tuesday evening.
The board aren't known to make decisions quick, so I reckon it'll be at least eight more games before he is given the chop. To be fair, it isn't McInnes' fault, as it wasn't Millen's fault. Neither manager has been backed fully by the board with the funds needed to compete at this level, and no other manager is going to do better with what we've got. If some kind of miracle did happen and 'Arry decided to take a look at the Bristol City job he'd balk at the lack of funds. He's a wheeler dealer, but he's also more than happy to blow vast sums of cash to get to the top, and our board simply won't give it to him. If someone were to take over the job I'd want it to be a Di Canio type character; an eccentric type that'll **** **** up when the players lose and will break down in tears with happiness at every win.
I said before the Brum game he would be on a knife edge if it comes to 8 straight defeats and I still hold to that. Thats 2 homes wins then please Del! 8 on the bounce and he will be on the carpet I think........not saying he will be sacked, but it could be the dreaded vote of confidence (same difference!) meeting with the boss? I am in the stick with Del camp by the way, and buy into the rebuilding from the bottom up idea that the majority think he is doing. However, is SL and co' in the same camp? Who knows........
Who's Peter Beagrie, one time footballer, now a tv pundit, how many clubs has he managed, none, so he's no authority on managing or running a football club, he's only stating the bloody obvious, something we all know, even DM, getting the players we want, in the positions we want, is not easy when the club is not prepared to fund signings, and signing on fees, and pay inflated agents fees, so until that happens we will be struggling, and to talk of Harry coming here if DM gets the sack, dream on, we are not big enough, or ambitious enough as a football club.
Sorry, but he had been given the funds but opted to buy several strikers instead..So yes, a lot of the blame is with the manager. Plus, although never gonna happen while I have a hole in my you know what, a lot of players would want to come if Harry was in charge.
When has Peter Beagrie ever said anything positive about us anyway, the prick even trianed with Dean Windass practicing that ****ing shot
With 'Honest 'Arry' in charge we'd be in administration within a year while his dog relaxes in the Maldives on the profits !
It is completely Millens fault. Teams this season have lined up with seven of his signings and not even been able to sort out who they were marking at free kicks. He has thirty players enough for two teams. Millions [with wages] spent on forwards. Blackpool and Burnley were promoted on lesser budgets. Sean Dyche finished outside of the relegation places with a squad bill far less than City and with teams often full of players with barely any experience at this level. Gary Johnson finished in the play offs and tenth with budgets below and similar to what is spent now.
