Who would you like , who do you think we will get Also who will Slur Alex ask for this season , how many years on the bounce have United an easier 1st fixture, to warm them up , in a row!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would like a team who usually finishes between 11 and 16 first at home, the promoted teams usually do well early in the season and then usually go into freefall about February, thats when we wanna play Swansea,QPR and Norwich.None of the promoted clubs in the first 8 games Id like Newcastle or Sunderland at home first , followed by perhaps Wigan away, followed by a couple of games against 2 of the top 6
I would quite like Blackburn at home. I really don't want any of the promoted teams first. Like you have said, they start well so it could be a difficult first game.
In 08-09 we had Sunderland (A), Boro (H) then Villa (A). In 09-10 we had Spurs (A), Stoke (H) then Villa (H) In 10-11 we had Arsenal (H), Man City (A) then WBA (H) The easiest one by far was the 08-09 season, as we got off to such a decent start that season we managed to challenge for the title. I think if we get a pretty easy team like Wolves, Blackburn, West Brom or something in the first game then this could be a good season, the last thing we need is a tough game which we lose and then lose our confidence as a result.
I suspect we will start with something like Stoke away, Tottenham at home And United will start with the easier bottom half , but not bottom 3 at home fixture, to ease them into the season.Unbelievebly last year they got there last fixture at home too, of course no shady goes on.And we have started away about 7 years on the trot
Anyone will do, got to play them some time..Like 4 of our 1st 5 away games to be Chelsea, United,Arsenal and Everton.
this is a thread about liverpools opening game, so why bring us and fergie into it? talk about obsessed! you need to get out more
I started a similar thread yesterday but it was first thread and it has only gone onto the premiership board. http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/54349-Opening-day-fixture-predictions I went for: us away to fulham manu home to wolves Amazing how similar the thinking is amongst fans though.
I personally hope that we get a home game to start off. Its usually a good idea depending on the opposition to back a promoted team in a accumulator in the first game of the season, they usually win their first game. They also provide some sort of shock.
i would take manure as they are slow starters and with a new vibrant hungry team what a good time to kick their ass and lay down a marker for the season. However,it won't happen as I hear SAF has requested the league to allow West Ham one game in the premiership at home to Manure,a sure fire 3 points. In fact it always seemed to me that manure would always play West Ham at home whenever they had just been beaten,i think they played them at home at least 7 times each season!!
Even though we will play everyone at some point in the season, this thread is asking the opinions of the us supporters which game you would prefer first (Team most likely to be at a disadvantage) in order for us to gain three 'easier' points and a morale boost. (Some people need it written in plain text to be able to grasp the concept) I think the promoted teams will be optimistic and usually have a fairly good run in the first few games (Based on previous years) so wouldn't want us to face any of them, I reckon Wolves would be a good shout, they just about stayed up and don't have a great squad to see them resist a optimistic, resurgent Liverpool side. Although a game against one of the 'big teams' (Other top 6 teams) would be challenging, a win would give us a huge boost, especially if it was an away game and was to be followed by a home game against the likes of Wolves. (The KOP would really be rocking!)
Some of the crap is hilarious. You honestly believe we are favoured by the FA. Evidence please, 1 single bit. not opinion, not tin foil hat theories and conspiracies just cold hard evidence. --------------------- On topic....I dont care who we get, we will likely draw the first game anyway ha.
Liverpool and Man United are totally different in that respect. You take a while to settle in, like this year you didn't get up to 1st spot until November/December but then it was pretty easy for you to coast along. In 08/09 we got off to a flying start but after January we just got far too many draws and lost it in the last month. We need a good first few fixtures if we're going to get into the top 4.
Just out of interest then, who/when was the last time united had a difficult away game first day of season?
