Snodgrass is still in the talks for contract that he was in last season so I think he's destined to go. Definitely Snoddy and from what I hear claytons worth a look.

Snodgrass was going to evaluate what transfer dealings leeds were going to do, so if there going to carry on shipping there best players out then he's sure to leave.

Snodgrass is a big YES from me. Hopefully we can use his previous connections with Lambert to pull him our way.

Think Clayton would be a brilliant addition seems like an all rounder, although 15k a week is a lot!

I'm afraid to say in Premiership terms 15k a week isn't a huge amount, and is probably well under the average weekly wage. I know, crazy isn't it.

I believe Holty is our top earner on something like 15/17k a week, I'd imagine if we want to move to the level we'll probably have to pay just a bit more than that to remain competitive. Not crazy money, and certainly not the 40k a week that Bradford paid Carbone to basically cripple them years back, or the 60k a week Pompey gave to Nugent and Utaka <doh><doh> but probably something like 20/25k a week to bring in the kind of players Lambert is likely to be interested in.

The only problem with signing two or three players on 20-25k a week is what effect it has on the other players already here. Will they want parity?

What Munky says is very true. Keeping faith this season with most of the guys who helped us get here was admirable - and prudent <doh>.

But in order to survive long(ish) term and compete at this level, we need to attract the type of players who are a cut above what we currently have. That, alas, comes with a price.

Lambert walked into this club and transformed it. Maybe it's David McNally's turn to relax the wage and transfer budgets so this miraculous journey can continue?

I have to say I agree, but at what cost to squad morale?

You could say Lambert and McNally will be stuck between a rock and a hard place.<ok>

I think it will need to relax, Lambert has stated the fees arent the problem, we have the money for the transfer fees its the wages that are a killer. I think if its done safely and incremented only in line with success then it isnt an issue, its essential to the growth of the club but it will require constant maintanence and consideration.

I can't say for certain, but I'm pretty sure there aren't many of our squad - if any at all - who are just here for the pay check <ok>

That is true. I just hope it won't change if there are new faces that come in on over 10k a week more than the squad that got us to where we are now.<ok>

The wage cap will rise a bit this year, but I would prefer to pay off the debt in 3 years then expand the stadium to 30-35k and slowly increase the playing budget if not we will be screwed.... Chase out..... sorry went back in time for a second. I think you all get my point though!

so long as there's scope to uplift existing players to match skill level and salaries of new comers then no drama... I'd also add I've no doubt McNally will insist on any new comers on those salaries will have the relegation clause attached to their salary... If we go down so does your salary.

This thread highlights the glass ceiling that each club has to face. We cannot and never will be able to compete with the very top clubs simply because our gates are limited to 26-27,000, even Arsenal had to leave Highbury for the same reason and Chelsea have that dilemma too.
The 'fair play rules' will help if they are applied properly but until then prudence has to the key and as has been said, getting higher earners (and hopefully better players) in, may upset the balance of a united squad. I mean City squad. It is a really difficult one but whatever happens we are financially much better off now than many in the PL.
