Loan signing eager to make his mark at Ashton Gate.
Tyrone Barnett believes he can add an aerial threat to supplement City’s prolific front two.

Regular partnership Sam Baldock and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas have scored 30 goals between them at the season’s midpoint, with both men already in double figures for league goals alone.

But Barnett, who has arrived on loan from Peterborough United until the end of the season, insists his 6ft 3in frame can add something slightly different to the equation.

“I’m aware of the quality of the strikers already here, but if I put in the hard work and take my time, hopefully I’ll get my chance,” the 28-year-old told City's Official YouTube Channel.

“If anything’s different about me it’s probably the aerial threat. I think the other two do well in the air too, but it’s always good to have options to keep the forwards on their toes.

“The biggest thing for me was the size of the club. It’s a big club that speaks for itself and obviously I’ve spoken to the manager and a couple of the lads as well, who have all said good things about it.”

The former Crawley Town marksman scored seven goals in his first 14 outings for Posh this season, including once in a 3-0 success at Ashton Gate, but has not found the net since October.

“I feel I had a good start to the season but I need to carry that on, and getting games under my belt is the best way to do that,” he added.

“I’ll need a few training sessions under my belt to get to know the lads, but I feel fit.”

Barnett is expected to come straight into Steve Cotterill’s squad for Saturday’s trip to Bradford City (3pm).

The bit about his breach of discipline would concern me but apart from that maybe he just wants to move on.
