All the home nations got handed out fines for displaying poppies.
England and Scotland for wearing armbands
Wales for having a member of the armed forces at the tunnel opening, and bizarrely the fans in the stadium?
Northern Ireland for holding a minutes silence, and laying a wreath.

Hope they pay their fines in pennies and let the stupid ****ers count them out.

A disgraceful decision that insults the families of those who gave their lives for their countries and brings an already tarnished association in to more disrepute. Tell the bitch who suggested this action to shove it somewhere where the sun doesn't shine. Perhaps it's time for European nations to go it alone before Qatar and Russia are allowed to host the World Cups. Once again money and corruption are allowed to rule the day. Absolutely shameful in my book.

Correct decision by FIFA to stamp politics out of the game.

Terrible decision by FIFA to not use any common sense on a case-by-case basis though.

Red Tape rules and common sense goes out of the window
We've chosen to leave the EU, so we should now choose to leave FIFA and I'm sure there would be other takers.

It would only really be worth it if a load of the other big nations did so as well, but I would absolutely love it. A big **** you to FIFA would be so sweet, they're just as corrupt as the Olympics committee, and the FIA, all of the big sporting Government bodies are completely untrustworthy.

    Not at all Rob.
Football doesn't come close to what my parents generation went through.

Have I missed something, you wrote
'It would only really be worth it if a load of the other big nations did so as well'
I'm saying we should act independently whatever other nations decide to do.
Not, as I think your saying, only if others choose to leave FIFA.
I mentioned 'my parents generation' as the thread is about conflict and wearing a Poppy.

We won the World Cup once (and I was there) and ever since we have fallen from grace in FIFA's eyes as we haven't even got a sniff at hosting the tournament again. I can't for the life of me understand why as we have all the infrastructure in place and I just put it down to ever increasing corruption and the events over the last 5 years or so make it so bloody obvious. They can all go to hell in my opinion but they might have to wait for corruption to fester down there before a stadium can be built. Oh I forgot they are already going there twice with Russia and Qatar.

I said on another post; the poppy isn't political. It's a symbol of remembrance which transcends political movements.
Totally agree with Onefor - we should refuse to pay it.
Arrogant xxxxx woman who tried to justify it too - what does she know?
    Makes me mad it does.....

the teams they played should be fined for aiding and abetting .... they could have took the stance they did not support such action and then there would have been ... situation!
