never in a million years he will be no better than league 2 standard at best and that's debatable, he has been out for far to long and i doubt he would mix it with premiership players in a month of sundays. once he is deemed fit and able to play we should try and sell him to one of the lower league clubs and get the problem player out of our wage structure and claw back some of the wasted money we have spent on bodde and bring another player in that can last more than 14 minutes on the pitch before he goes off injured again. he is too fragile for hard premiership football now, Harsh facts i know but we have wasted far to much on this bit part player who has hardly played 50 games in 5 seasons. We did it without him so we don't need him now.

Wow. A sweeping load of statements about one of the most talented players ever to don the shirt. I'm sceptical too, but I suppose until the medics say it's a no go then we have to stick with him. The second they say he'll never be back then fair enough. This latest statement from the Club is more encouraging to be fair.

Arthroscopy is a very minor operation takes a few weeks to get over , mine took about 2-3 weeks to get the swelling down and the good news was that it made absolutly no difference to the discomfort in my knee !!

so he will be back playing in about 3-4 weeks time, look forward to it :)

I had the same operation on my ankle once (the reason my ankle is bad is very similar to the reason he's had this operation) and I was home without a cast walking on it the same day. Then again... my ankle is still ****ed...

It is a minor operation though, and if it's true that his cruciate is fine I see no reason he can't play again by January, or realistically, a bit later.

    De ja vu?

I will only believe when he dons the shirt again and put's in a performance of Premier standards. The player has my best wishes and support, but getting Agustien and Britton scheduled for full training next week is far more important in our quest for staying up.

Encouraging, yes. It's correct that getting Agustien and Britton back is more important that Bodde. However, I see no issues in having a fit Ferrie Bodde taking his place within our squad. The man knows that he hasn't got a divine right to walk into our first team, but you can bet your ass that he'll be as hungry as hell to get into it. As I've said before, once he's back training, see how he goes. Then try him out in the reserves for a few weeks and see how he gets on. If he fails to get through 4 or 5 reserve matches, it may be curtains for Ferrie's career... that would be a gutter! If he gets through a few reserve games unscathed and looking good, we could well see him make some appearances from the bench this season after all. We'd have a great squad player on our hands if he gets through this!

To translate that mess above (for those that don't speak moron)...

I am sceptical as well on whether he will make it back, but I think some on here almost want him to fail so they can say I told you so ! Whilst he is our player we should be backing him to the full, the costs associated with him are not huge as the insurance would pay his medical costs and most of his wages, so the risk is minimal and the benefits huge if he can make it back!

A player of Bodde's quality will never lose the sight and vision he has... Okay he may not be fit or may never reach his peak fitness for some time yet..

Even the short time he spent on the field at Port Talbot he played passes the rest of the team couldnt even see let alone play..

One thing for sure is that we need to give him as much time as he needs.. We have, as you lot have correctly stated got where we are without him, but with him im sure we will push on and at least stay here..

nobody wants him to fail to say i told you so, that is a ridiculous comment but lets look at the facts shall we.....his playing history is one of the worse on record with very few games in 5 seasons for D.H. and us, He has made a couple of comebacks that lasted 14 minutes, It is over 3 years since he played and even then he was either sent off or subbed, he has never played in the premiership he had a couple of games where he was good in league one where he scored a few memorable goals, we have spent well over a million quid on him and for what? he has made no contribution to our rise to the premiership and if he never got injured he would have left us with no thought or care about us like a shot. today nobody wants him or would touch him with a barge pole so i don't blame him for hanging on to a thread for a nice few thousand quid every week for doing nothing. It is not the clubs fault he is a fragile player but we are now wasting thousands every week on a player that is finished ever playing competitive high class football again. we need to pay him off and send him on his way back to Holland with his family where he has been for most of the last 3 years anyway. he has earned enough money to live a comfortable life style so he wont be skint until he finds a suitable job in football or not......

Dai let's face some other facts here, he is under contract, he got injured playing for us, he was brought back too early twice under Martinez and Sousa, the PFA insurance covers his medical bills and most of his wages, you don't know what terms his contract says!

And finally if he did stay fit and went as mooted to Bolton we would have had a few million in the bag for him even den hag had their cut, the fact is that is football!

Dont Think bodde would have had insurence cover as he was already injured when signing the pay as you play deal. I could be wrong though. I Think every single Jack would be wishing ferrie good luck,we all would like to him play again, some posters just take a diferent view point on his post injury ability .

Buck described having Ferrie back, as like having a 5 million pound player back. That is why he is still worth the wait. Buck has probably never seen him play a competitive game of football, and he still rates him as one of, if not his best midfielder. He is certainly not League 2 standard like Dai thinks, just because of his fitness, and anyone who thinks that he only had 'a couple of good games' in league one, either didn't watch those games, or knows very little about football. He is either fit enough and premiership standard, or he is not fit enough to play football
