Just been a story on SkySports news that they understand the take over is going to end up with Fernandes owning 55% and Amit Bhatia 45%. Fernandes was also interviewed on it. Sound good?
Better than the current situation but partnerships like this often end in tears and I, like most others, would prefer Bhatia to have the controlling interest.
Fernandes vows to back Warnock Entrepreneur on brink of acquiring majority stake in QPR Last Updated: August 14, 2011 6:50pm 0 0 Fernandes: Thought to be on brink of QPR takeover Sky Bet Football Betting Click here for all your Football Betting. More Betting £5 Free Bet Malaysian entrepreneur Tony Fernandes insists Neil Warnock's job at QPR would be safe if he were to complete a proposed takeover of the club. Sky Sports News sources understand Fernandes, the owner of Formula One team Lotus Racing, is on the verge of acquiring a majority stake in QPR, with the deal believed to be worth around £80million. He is in discussions with majority shareholder Bernie Ecclestone and his business partner Flavio Briatore over buying out the F1 supremo to take control of the London-based club. Fernandes, who watched as QPR's Premier League campaign get off to a torrid start with a 4-0 defeat at home to Bolton on Saturday, expects the takeover situation to be resolved in the coming days. Discussions "I am in discussions," he told Sky Sports News. "I think over the next two to three days, one way or another, they'll be some sort of announcement. That's for sure." The Malaysian added that manager Warnock would have the full support of the board should he complete the proposed takeover, including the provision of transfer funds where needed. "I think the manager should get what the manager wants," he added. "I think Neil is a super guy and he's done extremely well to have got QPR to where they are. "If I were to get involved, he'd have my full support. But let's see if I do get involved." Everton v Q.P.R.: Q.P.R. 5/1 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11711_7101613,00.html
'...But let's see if I do get involved'. '...But let's see if I do get involved'. '...But let's see if I do get involved'. Having left that quote reverberating, REE-ZULT!! Fernandes? Let's wait and see but BHATIA - he's the man for us!! Unlike Fernandes, has the time, experience, loyalty, commitment... and financial backing to RUN TINGS!! Thought I saw him and an Asian crew in the pen yesterday. Explains everything - including what been resolved around Fernandes' relative lack of funds. Was CernyB right? Well he did say we'd be pleased and no interest from Mittal whatsoever... This is reading like that to me. Bhatia's not Mittal and loves the club. As for Mordy? Who gives a **** - if this comes off?
Fernandes: "I think over the next two to three days, one way or another, they'll be some sort of announcement. That's for sure." Expect an announcement on ..........Thursday!
It is churlish to complain, but I'd be so much happier if those percentages were the other way around. But yes Brixton, interesting that it is Bhatia not Mittal.
We'd be pleased with any takeover to be honest. Well I would! And surely Bhatia would be backed by Mittal if he's reinstated. As for Mordy, no one would care except me and RangersCol!!! Anyway let's keep this from becoming another Cerny thread, guy gets enough attention
I think he and Brixton may have a bit of a thing going! Anyway, getting rid of Bernie and Flav and getting Bhatia back on board (surely backed by Mittal?) are all positives in my view. Doesn't sound like a done deal yet though. Fingers crossed.
This sounds great to me you could see the smile in this guys eyes he will be taking over part of our club IMO, weather he has any connections with Mordy is another thing. But IF Batia is involved it slightly against the grian of the Bernie & Flab not wanting to sell to the Mittels, however what if Mittal is selling his share to Mordy so long as Batia gets he's job back, sounds freasable plus things can change in the future regaring the Mittals taking control. Just a thought.
Roller, HE, GMG: Bhatia's the rich QPR fan we've all thought probably didn't exist. AND judging by his educational and marital background, Bhatia comes from money and is probably independently wealthy. The joke is on us because whilst we were all worrying about Mittal's interest we took our eyes off Amit. From a QPR stand point, Mittal's flakey but Amit ain't. Remember, it was Amit who stopped Mittal from selling up last November and encouraged him to increase his holding by 12% when the opportunity arose in February. The Mittal money is likely to be there for Amit if he needs it. That means Fernandes will be reliant on his partner's support if they want to get ambitious (and they're both young enough to get big ideas!). IF this all comes off, Premier League: BEWARE! Them Rs are finally on the rise!! (Wubba: we can get on the same page!)
I've seen it reported (The Times, I think) that Bhatia is wealthy in his own right but I doubt that he has even the kind of dosh that Fernandes has. Nevertheless, if he were caught short, surely father-in-law would ride to the rescue? Whatever, it would be GREAT to see him involved.
Well this time last week it looked like Mittal was selling out all together, so the news of bhatia being involved in the new deal is wonderful. Surely he and mittal are together in this. But I'm sure that fernandez is just a broker in all this as he wouldn't be able to afford much in the way if backing after buying the club. Peter crouch anyone? What's that? Scott Parker you say. Messi?? Ok now that's too far. But what a remedy after yesterdays result. I couldn't make it and wouldn't have been able to afford to go anyway, so I watched on the tinternet, which of course is never clear, but I'm sure I saw Bhatia there. Can anyone confirm?
