Dutch media report that Leroy Fer is in England today to undergo his medical in Norwich. The Dutch midfielder can sign a five year deal with the Canaries. Norwich is rumoured to pay around 5 million euro's for the player, the same amount FC Twente paid Feyenoord in 2011. Fer's contract runs till 2014 and there is an option to extend for another year but by the looks of it he will playing in a green and yellow shirt this season.

Thanks, Cove <ok>
Apparently his move last January to Everton stalled because of a knee problem which the medical highlighted. Are you aware of this and would you say he's gotten over it - as well as anybody can from a serious knee injury?

Fer failed his medical in January, Everton still wanted him but they broke the deal that was negotiated, deal was off then.
I'm getting conflicting reports here over the height of the transfer fee, some say 5 million, others 8 million and a bit.

I agree especially with the knee injury, had a groin injury in 2011 as well.

did he have a bad enough injury to call the transfer off? as he played for the rest of the season i somehow doubt it. Everton were trying to get the price reduced and it failed.

Excellent article, Cromer. Let's hope it happens and he can emulate Yaya Toure. That'd do very nicely!

I honestly have never seen the lad play, from what I've read though he seems extremely highly rated. Getting a Dutch cap is no mean feat. Another benefit of this deal is him and Van Wolfswinkel both being Dutch coming into the premier league for the first time will mean they have someone in a similar boat who share the same mother tongue to help one another settle in. Fingers crossed we pull this off.

I've never met a Netherlander whose English is anything less than excellent. To make Fer and RvW feel welcome, we should sing OTBC in Dutch. With Dutch spoken by so few people outside the Netherlands, it would be a welcome they would really appreciate. <ok>

Yes, any English or American TV programmes are subtitled rather than translated, so I was able to learn a little Dutch when I lived there.

Kick off, gooien in, een beetje scrimmage, Hou het laag, een prachtige stormloop, bravo, winnen of sterven; Op de bal, stad, laat staan het gevaar, Gestaag op, nu is je kans, Hoera! We hebben een doelpunt.

Wouldn't be surprised if there are Dutch or Flemish words similar to Norfolk words like 'scrimmage' given our historical links in 16th century. Anyone know of any influence on the Norfolk dialect from the Flemish immigrants? Just interested in these aspects of language even though I have very limited foreign language skills myself.

Can you give me the full English lines because straightening out your Dutch google translation sentences is harder then a proper English, here's a draft, I marked the confusing bits with question marks:

De aftrap, ingooien??, een kleine worsteling??, hou het laag??, een prachtige aanval, bravo, de dood of de gladiolen; Op de bal??, stad, bezweer het gevaar??, Grijp je kans, Hoera, we hebben gescoord!
