I'm sat in a pub atm drinking a rather fine pint of Dark Star Hop Head. Dark Star is a local brewery to Haywards Heath in West Sussex and it's bloody lovely. What floats your boat when it comes to having a drink?
Recently got into the India Pale Ale 'revolution' beers, there's some awesome ones out there. Had a couple of Samuel Adams Rebel IPA last night 6.5% it's lush but I prefer regular Samuel Adams. Brewdog Punk IPA and Brooklyn Summer Ale are also nice. They all seem like a bit of a crossover between lager and ale to me.
Well as I've been dry for the last 13 years, mine is a nice mug of strong coffee or Vimto sugar free cordial. Slurp
I'd like to try that mate. I'm out in Ottowa or Toronto next year for a wedding, I'll just get a taxi to your place while I'm there
Double Maxim is my fave although it blows my t*ts off. Prefer craft ales such as Spitfire, Hobgoblin, etc. Bombadier is very nice as well. PS. Comm did you ever get round to trying the Vodka, Peach Schnappes and Lemonade?
Acquired a taste for German beer living there and stuck to it. Lots of regional brews and happy with Krombacher imported here and reasonably price compared to local stuff.
Dead simple mate. Didn`t do much beer although I have done beer, lager & stout. Mostly wines. Cartons of juice from the supermarkets are as good as anything. Citrous fruits don`t work, the yeast can`t deal with the acid but white grape, red grape, apple juice are all nice. Grapefruit juice is very nice but there`s a lot of sediment with that one. Ribena makes an acceptable rose (can`t do the little thingy on the `e`). Tried a high tolerance yeast once. Had to stop it at 44% or it would have kept on going. Could have launched the space shuttle with that one. The basic idea is very simple. Yeast eats sugar and pisses alcohol. What better arrangement could there be? Juice, sugar, yeast, water get the temperature right, set it away and let it get on with it. When it`s eaten all the sugar (and pissed out the good stuff) it stops. After that it`s a matter of getting it to clear and then drinking it. Careful sterilisation, temperature (to start with, once it`s going it`ll keep going at room temperature no bother) and that`s pretty much it. I`ve convinced myself now.
Doesn`t bear thinking about. I stopped doing it and got rid of the equipment when the booze was easy to get. It`s almost impossible now. Customs are finding it when they search the lorries for migrants. Bastards. Something else they`ve wrecked. Reckon I`ll be looking on the net tomorrow. There`ll be plenty of starter packs to be had.
